Russellville, at the junction of Hwy 7 and I-40 Exit 81 might be another good base. It is in a dry county, too, but they serve beer at Coltons and Ruby Tuesdays. These two eateries plus the Dixie Cafe, Cracker Barrel and Burger King are located within walking distance of at least 7 hotels/motels - Best Western, Ramada Inn, Fairfield Inn, LaQunita, Days Inn & Suites, Super 8 and Economy Inn.

I live a few miles north of there, not far off of Hwy 7. If I am home during your visit, I am sure I can talk my V-Strom in to showing you some of the local roads, if you want some company.

Lodging in the Russellville/Clarksville area may be difficult to find in April. Entergy's Arkansas Nuclear One power plant will be having an outage on Unit 1 from late March to early May, which will suck up most of the hotel rooms in the area unless you make your reservations early.

My wife is not as motorcycle friendly

Crossing at the peel ferry isagood idea,but I'd suggest staying on 125 on north to the Ozark, Springfield area. Course there are good roads near Branson and off season lodging there is cheap. Also, FYI, Jonesboro Ark is dry, but Truman is just maybe 10 miles south and it's wet. Plus there is a clean cheap hotel (days inn maybe) right on us63 there but i dunno aboutthe fine dining possibilities in Truman.......Oh yes, ther is an exxon station on 63 just at the south end of jonesboro that has fabulous fried cat fish.....almost as good as the Shell station in Huntsville. Oops, i digress. You can cross The River at Helena and find your way up to Crowleys Ridge and that'll take you into Jonesboro.
There are some great sights in Little Rock. There is a comfort inn right at the interstate and the Clinton Library and the rates are great. Plus, they run a free shuttle to the library and the river walk area and god knows where else. Also, ther is some old mill there, the name of which escapes me just now. There are great roads from little rock to hot springs and the Arlington is a great place to stay if you are traveling with your spouse. Rates are quite reasonable too and the restaurant in the hotel is just damn fine. The possibilities are simply astronomical and the news is all good.

Damn, if I believed that when I died I'd go to Arkansas, I might take up religion!
