I started out using a cheap old pup tent. We went for a ride one evening and had a heavy rain storm. When we got back I had about 3 inches of water in my tent. Sat around the camp fire drying things out as best I could... Went to Cabela's before the next trip and bought I good tent.

The Eureaka Tent Timberline model in this picture...I had it for about 10 years, numerous mc trips and it has never let me down. Never got wet. And very quick & easy to set up... even alone in the dark with nothing more than headlamp. I paid $150.

I forgot to ask about sturgis tents. Does anyone have experience with these. I want a 5x7 or 5x8 because the 7x7 square ones, even though I'm short, I feel like my head and feet touch the ends.

Tents.. We are tent poor...
This is one of our Keltys .. a 4 man..Love this one had it since the mid 90's

Our newest tent a Kingdom 6 by REI with a garage ..what a great base tent!!!

This tent in the back is a Eureka Timberlite .. A 3 man .. We also love this one .. It's smaller then the Timberland that Markcap posted..

I'll have to look for some of our other tents...
WE have a MSR that we like a lot too.. It's very similar to a whalen lean-to

seams like a deacent tent. If you get the two person you could fit a twin size cheep air matress from wally world. I use a cheep mattress cause every tyme I buy a high dollar big agness (or whatever) matress, I always manage to get a hole in the dam thing about the second or third camp out. If I buy the $20 dollar matress I can buy 5 for the price of one, and for some reason I can't seem to grt a hole in the cheep matress, I have one that packs about the same size a a big agness (just about twice the weight), but you need a pump to inflate it. I just use a cheep $10 12V pump I can run from my bike( plus it also serves a great LULU inflater)

The olny thing is they Have no isulation in the matress so they can get a lil cold when the temps drop..

I got the exact same one. I also recommend something to put between the tent and the ground.
I picked this one because it packs 16" long.

1% back for using the Cabelas credit card works great, but I tend to buy guns instead of camping gear this year.

I'll throw in here too. Here's mine,,, a Eureka Juno. 8x8 for plenty of stretch out room for me and gear. Aluminum poles with sleeves, plenty of mesh for ventilation.

And last year for Christmas,,, my wife gave me that high $$$ cot from Aerostich!
And even though I'm not worthy,,, it IS a damn comfy cot!!!

Packs up nice and small,,, and NO worries about leaks. If you camp even 3-4 nights a year,,, go for it. I put a Thermarest on top of it, unzip my bag and use it more as a blanket. Also take a fleece bag liner if temps are questionable. Good down to about 35 with that combo.

The fun part of camping is that you don't have to leave just when the good times start!

For the Big Agnes users with the pad in the back what do you do if you sleep on your side?
The hood would be all twisted up and you wold have to spin in the bag.

I'm asking because my mummy sleeping bag shrunk over the last few years
