There might be one for sale in the spring but it won't be cheap. Yes the prices for them is high but for a reason. The new Transalp is nice to look at but reliability and finish have suffered for the all mighty dollar. Cheap and rough and they break.

New everything. Powder coated rims new spokes, New cush drive rubbers. All hardware cad plated. New bearings in suspension, wheels and steering head, New rubber, to be installed Metzeler Tourance 2's. Frame sand blasted and powder coated red. Plastic refinished in yellow. Forks rebuilt with new bearings and seals and progressive springs.
Shock rebuilt and cad plated. Any steel parts powdercoated were cad plated first. Rust is a thing of the past.
Swing arm was epoxy primed today and then an industrial epoxy paint used in ocean wind farms to finish the surface.

I figure I'll have it completed by spring for me to play a bit. I haven't touched the engine but the carbs are cleaned and rejetted. Finally got one of those goofy little sparkplug wrenches Now I'll make a bunch more that are a bit more robust and easier to use... Jugs will be freshened and maybe cermachromed. My airplane engine has loads of time and no wear on the jugs at all.
I also intend to replace all the "rubber hoses"with silicone but I have not been able to find a source for molded and the instalations I have seen are all in the UK and the hose is brutally expensive. Time to break down and bite the bullet.
This bike will be like new when finished and I don't intend on advertising what it is. It's a mystery ship.
New heated grips for the cooler weather, new footpegs from honda, big wide mothers. Crash bars are from Rugged roads......Best I have seen and very sturdy, better than my buddy's on his BMW F650.
I have also learned that even though the aluminum panniers look cool and appear to protect... They may just rip right off in a heart beat so I use soft dry bags with lashing loops and they stay put. A Pelican top box will finish off the rear. No passengers allowed ....

I don't own one( I wish I did), but I would go to a CANADIAN AFRICA TWIN MEET, just to see a few of them gathered in one place.
If you look in the BEASTS forum, you'll see the two most popular threads are the Africa Twin and the Triumph Scrambler. Bikes most of us would probably love to own, but content ourselves with living vicariously through those that do.

it was on kijiji and the price seems more than fair to me, so i had to go for it. not my favorite colour scheme but i changed my other one to black

might keep this one the original colour.

sorry to brag, but i just took delivery of my AFRICA TWIN ( the one that was for sale in quesnel.b.c ) and i must say the bike is MINT. paint is near perfect , no evidence of ever beeing down and no evidence of it ever being off road.

very stock ,except for the seat.

i might have to not ride it , it's that nice.

sorry for bragging but I'm excited.
