Hi Joe, we are lucky to have you here :-))) otherwise, it would be completely surprise, when we pick up the bike from the dealer here. Good luck with the rest of the trip.
I wonder how the heat tranfer is on the 1190, does it get as hot as the 990 and the fan blows it through your legs or it's better this time?

Itís much better. The engine of the 1190 is not covert complete by the tank, as it was by the 990, and the 1190 has 2 fans.
Even in the slow, deep sandy part along the Lake Turkana, where it was very hot too, I had no problems.

Joe

How having two different luggage sizes affecting your riding? Do you notice the weight difference ?

Have dropped the bike? Are those crash bars protecting the tanks? They seen very low to me.

Cheers
Have fun

Just pack both boxes with a similar weight.
Until yet I didn't use the crash bars, but I think they'll work good.

Donít go off the main track!!
Are the words by Alan from Wales and he must know it. Heís the chief of an international Landmines clearing operation. It will take some more years to clear the areas along the main roads.

The tracks in South Sudan arenít the best. It would be no fun to drive on this road in the raining season.

The most of the checkpoints in Southsudan I can pass without problems.
Just the traffic police stop me often. But not to controll anything, only to seat on the new KTM.
