Slap?

Is any one planning on the SLAP 2013? It would be my firtst time. If anyone has any helpful tips please pass them along. I know it's early, but I thought it might be cool to roll into Arkansas as a group. I'm not a planner, I'm a do-er.

Did it last year on the klr. Want to go again this year but haven't comitted yet. We did backroads and camped around Table Rock then pulled into Wight Rock the next day. Had a nice gravel trail to ride from Eureka Springs all the way in.So 2 days down, 2 days there, 2 days back

May be interested with a couple of friends if it is a "easy" ride. All three of us have KLR650s and have primarily ridden on pavement the last year or two. Would be great to expolre some new roads/trails. We live in the Chestefield/Wildwood area. Thanks, Jim

We can run around some gravel/pavement in St. Charles/Warren county, but it is difficult to find real woods (that I know of) unless you head WAY south (read Potosi/Bixby/Salem) and the forecast 45 degree high and short days will probably keep us from doing that. If someone has a great suggestion I'm always up for it, as I do get tired of the same ole' stuff . . .

I need to GPS a route, looks like a good time. Sounds like "Byrds" is the place to be. The early expectation is around 120 bikes. I'll have to put some thought into this, quite a commitment. At the very least, the rally shirts are cool.

Are there any decent dirty, dusty twisties between Warrenton and Fulton. It would seem like the "Mineola Hill" area south side of 70 could be interesting, maybe some back roads to Callaway nuke plant. I think I am talking myself into joining in Sunday. Where/When?

The up to Louisiana and over into IL route is spectacular in the winter/fall. I might be up for a ride on sunday. Keep it going.

I have not done this route. Distance and time required? I'm definitely interested. I found an old file titled Gary's River route from 2011, not sure if this is it? I'll have to see if I can pull it into my GPS tomorow. What would be a good start point and time? Let's do it!

starting place

We always started at 61 and C, at that gas station. Unless there have been changes, first gas stop was in Louisianna. The station in clarksville closed last time I rode it. So have a 100 mile range to make it. It is an all day ride. Several nice waterfalls, creek in a tunnel, windmill, etc. Great ride.

Is this a pavement ride? My 690 ain't got no legs right now, so I would be taking the FZ1.

Do you use 79 North or step over to W up to Clarksville? Back down the West side of the MO/IL peninsula and around Pere Marquette?

What time do you plan on meeting?

Cheers,

MrHix

Sounds like a great ride, I have a window of about 10-2 due to a company party at 3 so I am out if it is an all day ride. Enjoy and I will try and join next time.
