This is what I was asble to come up with at the hotel site. The site was a little wonky though and I don't know if I got the KTM pricing.
Located a 200 yard walk to the resort village.
Sounds like we need to put together some big groups and start booking the 5 bedroom penthouses. You listening Grinderman? StevefromGV?

I liked the location of the last KTM rally in Bend. It was an outdoor setting. You could walk around the entire weekend in your motorcycle gear and boots and think nothing of it. In fact I would have been happy in a campsite after recouping in a resort bed for a night, but the campsites were too far removed from the event.
That Steamboat Grand Hotel looks HUGE. It looks like a great location to bring the family. But it's not exactly a place I want to lumber around in riding gear all weekend, clomping down long hallways in the morning while pissing off the sleeping non KTM participants. I know the KTM organizers have a tough job and want to look forward to a nice relaxing resort. I myself prefer something that straddles the line between rustic and resort. I'm curious what the local riders think of this set up.

that this should be posh and comfortable, like a BMW Rally, not rowdy and hooliganistic, like a KTM Rally. Where's the campfire pit at the fruggin' Hotel? I don't need a TV or a jacuzzi,...just some ice...

Thought I might be in the area ---------but since this is a hotel gig---------I'll make sure I go somewhere else.
Was hoping for something out in the middle of nowhere with no amenities. Too fancy for me---and I don't do reservations. Dang---was wanting to hang out with the big boys for a bit. BigDog

I liked sitting in the hot tubs at the Bend rally. I may just need to swing by and spend a night or two at the Grand. Nothing wrong with a nice soft bed

Fellas, I'm about to join the clan, and was excited that the event was close to home for me. I too was a little surprised that this was in this "big" hotel, but this is what I know about Steamboat in the summer. The area is MUCH busier in the winter than the summer. Big hotels such as this are usually hunting for business in the summer. I'd guess that given that they are right on the mountain, KTM was able to negotiate the room for displays, etc.
The "base village" area used to host some historic car races in the summer that were a blast as they were able to close all the roads and have a sweet road course atmosphere quite easily. There are a lot of places to stay right there, and some camping fairly close. I have some good friends that live in Steamboat and can get some better info if there is interest.........I may just go ahead and do that. My sense of things is that there would be quite a bit of nearby lodging that is not quite so posh for those that would prefer that approach. Don't give up on the event yet!!!! ![]()

I've signed up. I plan to head out from WI last weekend of Aug to spend a week or so riding/camping around CO before the rally.
At this time I'd like to camp as close to the rally as I can. I don't plan to book a room. I have no camping location or plans set at this time. Hope to see you there.
