Solution for you
Mr. B., I have a touratech tankbag that is low, attaches to the tank rails and has a velcro latch at the base of the tank so you can just lift it up for fuel stops. Very easy on/off, has a map window on the top and a place for small electronics. Also it holds a fair amount of stuff. I have used it on my '08 RT for about 2 years until I sold the bike. PM me if you are interested in buying it. It works great and is made specifically for the RT. It is in good conditions and you can save some big $$ as Touratech is quite proud of their products.

Touratech Link
Here is a link to the Touratech bag. It has a low profile so it does not get in the way.

I tried the BMW tankbag at the dealer. I too liked the mounting system. Unfortunately I found it quite large and located too far back on the bike. It interfered with my 6' 4" 350 lb. gut when seated on the bike.
I'm going to see if I can come to a deal with KentuckyBob on his Touratech low bag. Thanks for all the replies and advice. It's always appreciated.

It is technically factory, just not available from the factory....
I thought about painting it but you really don't notice it from a normal viewing angle. Maybe I will hit it with a matte black rattle-can next time I have it off for an oil change.

But to repeat myself from earlier in this thread - I bought the bike for the engine. Love it, regardless of the actual numbers!

Email order sent to the dealer, unless I find a nice Polar for sale before then.
I'm told Jan. for 90th pricing almost enough time to break the news to the wife.

I just ordered them from Max BMW. The RT has some socket head cap screws filling the threaded holes the covers will use. Just take them out and mount the guards using the longer supplied bolts. I was going to go for the Touratech guards, but i though the BMW ones looked better. And they aren't that much difference in price.
SET, VALVE COVER GUARDS, ALUMINUM (for a 2005-2009 GSA), PN# 71 60 7 658 636, $246.95 Touratech Cylinder Head Guards: http://www.touratech-usa.com/Store/P...-RT-up-to-2009 $204

So it's snowing up here today.
![]() Time to finally service the bikes and do some "needed" work. I am thinking about the Touratech oil cooler guards. Also want to install some extra lights, and like LED.Maybe PIAA on Ezy-Mount ? Had a set of Hella Micro DE on another bike and I reall liked them, but they are halogen. Guess I'll have to do some more surfing.
