Well i went to install the Scotts tda and found out I have the wrong arm. I have a straight arm and I guess I need a stepped on.
![]() Now that I looked at ADVnut setup, I see the stepped arm Order went in to BRP for stepped arm.

You might not need to buy a new arm, you can lower the plastic collar on the tower pin to bring the pin up level with the top of the straight arm. If it won't extend enough, you could buy the next taller pin from Scotts (about $10), this will be a bit cheaper.....and you won't have to buy the puller to replace the arm on the damper.

Thought i put up some photos of the finished product. It took about 2 hrs to do. Biggest issue was taking all the stuuf off the bars and getting the new bars ready.

Bump,
Bringing up an old thread, I've got a few questions for you guys running these scotts dampers on airheads. I am in the market for a (probably cheap second hand ) scotts damper for my 80G/S which will soon be wearing its WP50 extreme front end with Rdubb triples made by Guy.Who has gone with the road or offroad versions (ie damping both ways or only away from center)? From my reading I found some talk that the road version is better for heavy bikes. There were a few other reasons as well, and it just makes sense to me, but I am leaning towards the road version. However, who's got what and how has it worked out? Also, I need to figure out which tower attachment and what stepped arm thingimy I need... I am planning on getting a submount set of bosses (probably BRP) for the Rdubb/Guy clamp. thanks for any advice, and/or links to other threads where scotts dampers on airheads (particularly G/S or GS) is discussed. |

and another bump,
if this one does no good I suppose I'll start a thread, anyone- G/S or GS or just a dirty airhead with a scotts stabilizer want to share some experience? |

More More
![]() Thanks Stagehand I was hoping you would turn up Have you got the road or the off-road version (damping both ways or only damping away from center). What are your thoughts on the choice between the two. And aside from = awesome in the dirt, do you notice any effects on the rubber cow on the road? Due to reading somewhere that the road version is probably better for heavy bikes (for road and offroad) and just trying to imagine a damper working only one way, I'm leaning towards the road version. If I get persuaded towards the off-road version I'll be annoyed because I just missed a cheap one Also, What have you used for the bolt on tower thing? Is this a part that Guy sells? Thanks. |

Would you happen to have a set of stock handle bar upper and lower mount for a 1200 GS ?
Thanks |
