2 things that drove me crazy. The seat and the "snatchy" throttle.

Suspension for sure. Shiver'd forks and Ohlins rear (for now). Elka rear soon.

Fixing the snatchy throttle was #1 on my list. It was relatively cheap too for a G2 throttle tamer and a booster plug. Makes the bike SOOOOOO much more manageable on the slow rock crawly stuff, which as someone pointed out- is necessary at times when the suspension just can't keep up.

Scotts steering damper is pretty choice too. Oh, and crash protection is up there, as in crash bars and skid plate. All that Touratech stuff is really just bling...not that it stopped me front putting it on mine though.

Oh and +1 on the tires. I think it kind of goes without saying you need proper knobs (tkc, K60, pirelli scorps-my fave) if you're gonna spend any real time in the dirt.

Seat Concepts

Best mod so far is my new seat from seat concepts.
Fantastic.
I am 5"10' 220lb. Not tall.
went from bmw LOW seat to seat concepts TALL seat, standard foam, grip surface.

Difference is amazing. The low seat was uncomfortable after a short ride and my knees got sore with being bent too much. I did a 690km (430 mile) round trip last weekend. Plenty of stops etc, but still pretty good.

I had an air hawk on my old R1200gs. That was pretty good. But this seat, on the f800gs, is better for me.

The tall seat means that it slopes up towards the front, which is more comfortable. I am on tiptoe when stopping, but I don't mind that. My last bike was x-challenge, so used to it. When you are going it is great.
The seat is flat so I can move back and forward on a long ride.
I do not like the grip surface myself as I prefer to be able to move about. However as I do take a pillion, I chose this so that my wife does not slide into me every time I brake.

Great value for money. I thoroughly recommend it.

My favorite uprade so far has been the seat (a must have) and the aluminium panniers. But I still have a lot of farkling to do so that still can change.

I have never even sat on my stock seat. I rode the demo bike, then bought my bike and added the BMW comfort seat to it. Rode it home with the stock seat tied to the back. Now I have the Sargent (dished) seat.

Larger foot pegs from black Dog Cycle Works. I wouldn't have thought that larger pegs would help that much, but it is much easier to control the bike. I can stand a lot longer without my feet hurting and there is a lot less vibration.

Standing on the stock pegs was like being on a tight rope. It was scary when they were wet or muddy. The wider pegs make a huge difference. You can actually feel comfortable putting pressure on the pegs to help steer.

How are the vibrations on the road with the larger pegs? Worse without the damping feature?
