Off to Panama I go
I am heading to Panama (by plane) on Jan 19 for 9 weeks (an offer I couldn't refuse being that it probably be -30 in Calgary) and looking for advice on possibly jumping over go Quito and getting a bike for a couple weeks (I'd like to see Galapagos too) but just want to pack as much as possible into a couple months of R&R. I'm 51 and newly single.

Looks like you're in for a fun time!
Check out Mike in Cali, Colombia http://www.motolombia.com for a bike rental there. Or check out Court in Quito, Ecuador for a bike rental http://www.freedombikerental.com/. I've done both - you'll have a great ride no mater which you choose.
