Congrats on almost being free! We should figure out some way to meet up, as I'm bumming around the south once I leave here too, which should be soonish. My wrist is almost healed, and I'm antsy to go.
I started wandering as a way to figure out what I wanted to do too, basically thinking that it would come to me eventually, and if not, at least I am having a good time. The longer I do this, the longer I suspect that I will never really figure out what I want to do, but that it's okay, because life's about the journey. Happy holidays and all that!

After here I am heading to the Appalachicola state forest South-West of Tallahassee, it looks like I can camp there for free for a max of 14 days, So that's my first order of business, finding my inner peace again. Not that I have lost it entirely, but living around noise constantly does a number on me. I long for the quiet of the forest like a fish does to water. LOL After that I'll be heading into Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Texas. Then of course New Mexico and Arizona. I'll PM you my cell number and my SPOT locater website so you can see where I'm at, or you can call me. Merry Christmas!

Maybe I will try and hang on in there till the 10th, it's another $250, and I would love to get the IMS tank for Spirit, more gas volume and I can finally get rid of those funky radiator shrouds. Maybe this tank won't have the gas purring out of it if I drop Spirit somewhere.
Notice I say IF, and not when.......

New Boots! :D
Yay! Went to a motorcycle store near Fort Meyers, a BMW store nevertheless, and found some Triumph boots on sale!
![]() The only bummer was that they didn't have my size. I ended up getting a pair that is two sizes too big, but decided that if I do end up going to Alaska, I wanted to be able to wear some really nice thick woolen socks in it. The boots are totally waterproof, and very comfy, so I'm happy. Paid $117 tax included. Not bad I think. Ordered two new Shinko 705 tires from BikeBandit, and they should be in next week. While I was online I got a new oil plug and rear wheel spacer as well. A few days ago I noticed a knocking sound coming from the toped of my engine........ what now? I'm going to see if my valves need adjusting, or at least different shims now. Wonder where I can get one of those measuring thingies??? Guessing an auto part store might carry them. Five more days of work, and I am a free woman again. Gonna check my toped after that, put new tires on, and wait for my last paycheck to get here before I hit the road. So to all my faithful readers, hang on in there for some more adventure

Arizona?
Hey! Those are really cool boots and the exact same as mine, that I bought last year. I love how light they are for walking in although I suppose that means a little light on support too. Anyway, good for me and better then any that I've had before....
I notice that your plans include AZ. and since we're in the Phoenix area, we might be able to let you crash on our AZ. room sofa. Since we're in a retirement resort, the "homes" are quite small but it should be better then nothing. Do you have any ideas of about when you'd be in this state? We'll be having visits from our kids for a few days in Jan. and Feb. but we should be able to time things for your stay. Our area has a great state park just down the road from us with a great view of the Superstition Mountains so that would be a nice place for you too. You can see those mountains in my "National Monument" ride report below. Stay safe, Gary "Oldone" ![]() Grampa’s Lake Superior Ride Grampa’s National Monument Ride |

Well she will ride fine on blacktop, eat gravel for lunch and shimy her hips at the mere sight of mud.
How do I know ? ![]() See the 705 on there ?

They do well in anything dry. Mine even got me through snow on Hwy.50 in Nevada. It was snowing so hard it was hard to see the road , maybe 6" deep , all told. At one point the tires let go and for a second it looked like I was going down and then as if by magic, traction returned and I made it into Eureaka.
