It wasn't a Hummer last year, it was a life sized R/C car made by Traxxas.

I think one reason is that there was a lot of money spent on wind tunnel testing that body design. It's not broke, so......

It's a one off, or two, custom made race buggy that happens to have a Hummer style body, which is probably custom made too, so if you already have the molds to make spares why change?

Not even close to an x6, it's a tubular framed custom race car. Like RG's car it has a body to appease sponsors. You could put a hummer body on the mini or a mini body on the hummer. Would make very little difference. Not sure why folks don't get this ?

It's not a Hummer, it's a CL1 with a Hummer body on it.

D99 is right. There's a video somewhere of the Dakar X3 being constructed from the ground up. The only thing BMW is the heavily modified engine and some badges. I think there may be or have been some X6's in the T2 category though.

Haven been given the huge amount of time in GM's wind tunnel is a very big deal. Just being able to get any time in it is very difficult. There had been talks with Jeep but it never came to be. And yes Robby owns the molds the Hummmmmmbuggy body parts are made in.

Do you know if the body fiberglass or carbon? Sorry if it was already mentioned, but I'll never forget the first Lemans style race I attended in Portland and seeing the "Porsches" and "Jags" and "BMWs". Just beautiful carbon and tube chassis with a insert_manf_here badge and motor stuck in it.

Different materials for different pannels. Some Carbon, a lot of fiberglass & fiberglass with kevlar so it can take a beating without shattering.

Silly me, they were X5's, and X3's. you don't need to explain to me what a racecar is.
My original point was that the " model" of car that's dressed over a racecar chassis had nothing to do with its credibility, just because Hummers are not currently for sale new doesn't make Robby's effort any less credible.
Race teams take their sponsorship from whoever they can get it. If Mitsuoka wanted to sponsor him his racecar would look like an Orichi with a lift kit and big wheels.
