The Montesa Cota 315 R Thread...

Last month I drained the oil and went to GM Autotrak II, rode it for a few hours and drained it and refilled with GM Autotrak II, the clutch works great now, doesn't drag cold or hot. The engagement is smooth and not like a light switch. I am very happy with it now. I won on the advanced line last weekend and the clutch was great.

I've got a line on a '94 Montesa Cota. I believe that was the first year for the Honda power, correct? Anything I should know about this particular year? Any idea what it might be worth in decent shape? The guy is asking $1,500. Thanks!

94 is a 314r. I had one a few years ago when I first got the idea of trying trials. It worked just fine. Very reliable and nice manageable power. It was a little heavy, but a fine beginner choice in my opinion. I sold it when I just had to have a new KTM200. The KTM is long gone and was replaced with another trials bike. I'm fully hooked at this point. I wish I'd never gotten rid of that Montesa.

I sold mine on ADVrider - I think I advertised it at $1,350. It sold in a few hours.

So where does one go for basic info on this bike, like how much oil goes in the tranny, chain adjustments, etc.? I can't find crap.

I called The Tryals Shop (http://www.tryalsshop.com/) and chatted with Mike. He knew the 314 very well and was able to answer all of my questions and got me the parts I needed. I suspect much of what you find for the 315 will apply as well - or at least get you in the ballpark.

Anyone install a rear suspension lift kit on their 315 similar to what Lewisport carries? The website claims that it makes the suspension work better and makes it easier to bring up the front wheel.

Just curious, a 315 followed me home the other day.

I don't know if it's ever been called a "lift kit", but I installed V-Mar's shock linkage plates on my 4RT a number of years ago and really like it. It makes the rear suspension action much more lively, and much easier to loft the front wheel. They fit the 315 also -
