anyone have a good seat cover or a good idea how to get or make one?
I'd love to have the '250L' decal on the cover, too
help me the bike is a 94, the tank decor and the darker blue number plate stickers conform, but the seat decor looks like 91?
Contact: oem.replica@gmail.com he sells the seat covers on E-bay. If he has the correct logo stencil it will cost you around $45. If he doesn't have the one you want, like my 1986, he will make one for free if you give him a stencil that he doesn't have.

UNI or No-toil if you ride offroad. Stock paper or K&N for street use.

Xr Jetting

Just back from a 78 kilometer trail ride ,first ride after fitting a Giannelli can ,I also ground the internal welds on the header pipes.the bike still has standard air filter with the snorkel removed.
I fitted 135 main .48 pilot jet.
The Bike needs lots of choke when cold, starts ok when hot .
Today after 15 minutes in slippy tight wet woods .bike very hot it refused to start only when i applied choke,
I will do a plug check tomorrow
any suggestions.

Any air leaks in the intake boot or airbox boot? What's your idle mixture screw set at?

I just set mine up with a 135 main and 48 pilot. It's got an FMF pipe and no snorkel. It runs great and starts easily after I adjusted the idle mixture and bumped up the idle speed a bit.

update on my new-to-me 94 XR250L

it had oil around the head, one bolt next to the spark plug missing,
so poor thing got beheaded, after digging a ton of oily dirt from the hole
I found 2 1/2 maybe 3 rounds of thread, reassembled with a bolt and nut
seems to have fixed the leak

carb got a bubble bath and some compressed air, now she idles,
mounted a new air filter, not an easy starter yet, still needs adjusting

had a Duro 903 4.10-18 so that is on the rear rim now, everything back there got cleaned and greased, chain revived

found a battery compartment on ebay and stock harness on the shelf,
battery is ordered

seat cover is ordered

the chain slider question is still up
that new, aftermarket slider for an oilsump XR250R does not really fit, it is too long, according to Honda OEM part numbers XR250R 86-95 and XR250L are the same

next problem:
I need a right side panel for a 'redskin', the old monza red of the 85, 86 models, if anyone has one too many ... please pm me

Well its not the best photo but it shows my latest mod, the 2006 CRF 250 forks. I have machined two stems so I will have a complete set of CR triples with a stem machined and complete with bearings and seals ready to fit for sale soon.

The tests with the Edelbrock quick silver 2 carb proved a success, I just need the richer needle to arrive and the afm will be spot on. The pic shows it with one cable but I have since sorted the push pull cables and it pulls like a train no bogging perfect starts and good fuel economy..

more updates soon

is a tad beyond my price range

hopefully someone sooner or later will offer one
a little more affordable

Well, it was a buddy race and me and my buddy were pretty whooped after one lap each, we haven't ridden like that in a minute. We decided it was probably better to call it after that. The mud was making traction very tricky. I spent 20 minutes trying to get up one hill after I lost my momentum waiting for other stuck riders. It was a lot of fun though.

We were 39 out of 41. But first place in having the oldest bike!

Ok new owner...sort of. I have a 86 XR250R model but just bought a 2001 XR250R for my nephew. Paid $1k for it. Needs some TLC (mostly cleaning and inspection stuff) but looks like a decent scooter. All original but has been sitting for a couple of years. Still has OEM tires/chain.

Anyway, hate to ask this but much of the rubber and seals on this bike has dried/deteriorated/rotted (shock bumper, tires, air filter foam, even the o-rings on the chain have rotted off). So I plan to replace that stuff plus check valve clearances, change the fluids/filters, grease the linkage and steering stem bearings.

Anything else I might be missing?

BTW, what is the deal with the kickstarter placement on these things? Mine sits off the kick starter shaft by about .5 inches. Is it typical for the kickstarter not to go all the way on the kick start shaft on these bikes?
