I agree, pretty much about epic, get to go pretty much anywhere you want and no pressure of beating the next guy.

Not lost, just expressing an OPINION, a view of how something strikes me, and the whole Hummer branding thing struck me as a misfire.

You got a lot of emotion wrapped up in this...

I did realize the example I cited hails from France, but IIRC RG's antagonists weren't all French. Nani Roma comes to mind, but it's been a while.

No biggie, but in the 1980 Winter Olympics, the US Team won the gold by defeating Finland, after their win over the Soviet Union Team in the previous round. Izzat the one you mean?

Miracle on ice... Our college kids beat an elite sporting organization that hadn't lost a playoff game in 30 years.

We'll call this years Dakar Miracle in the Desert... for both RG and Johnny Campbell.

Happy to see Robby back for another go at Dakar. You have to respect his talent as a driver and the energy he brings to any race.

Subscribed to this thread and just liked Speed Energy Facebook page.

Good Luck Robby!

What the heck has the Mini done for the French military...Oh nothin since the French military has done absolutely nothing either.
Agreed that the Hummer is an American icon even if it's (road going version) no longer in production. I've always been a small/light car fan but watching those hummers last year was beautiful, I really hope Robby gets a good fair run this time around.

Got to say but; what does the Mini have to do with the French military? It's made in the UK and owned by the Germans.

The first miracle was 1960 Winter Olympics at Squaw Valley. Jack Riley was coach (West Point) and the Cleary brother's starred (Harvard). They defeated Czecho, USSR, and Canada for the Gold. The team was a hodgepodge of former college players, police and firemen from around the Boston area. They almost quit and went home before the games even started. No money to stay. Legend has it Bob and Bill Cleary hosted a team wide knock down brawl in the locker room amongst themselves. Bob and Bill got their way. The team stayed and made history.

If RG is compared to those boys, he's in good company.
