Front brake issues R100GS/PD

Help, the front brake on my '95 R100GS/PD is locking on? Trying to bleed it but it is still locking the front wheel up. Ideas?

Been wet / salt? - Corrosion on pistons or pin.
How old is brake line? - possible is crap inside line blocking master cylinder / line / piston

Sounds like the return port on your master cylinder is plugged. Pull the cap off and look down at the bottom of the reservoir. You should see two tiny holes into the bore of the master cylinder. Use a toothpick or similar to clean them both.

That's my guess too. I have seen a rash of troubles caused in the last few years from the rubber hoses coming apart on the inside. Especially on oilheads for some reason but still . . . .

Thanks guys, the little holes in the master cyclinder were clogged and the brake lines are also crumbling. Tried to get a new master cyclinder but none available in Oz at the moment so rebuilt it. Will order new lines and a caliper kit and it should be all good. Thanks for the help.

Agree on that. Been driving old bimmers since around '95 & there's been many a brake problem fixed by replacing the rubber lines. They can even fail by acting as a one way valve holding pressure & not releasing.

Yes the rubber hoses do eventually fail on the inside - but lets be realistic - in many cases 20+ years from a rubber hose is not bad. BMW does recommend their replacement at 10yrs.
