I live in Tucuman, north of Argentina. according to your itinerary you won´t came near. But if you are planing to visit Tucuman Salta o Jujuy (where there are "Los Valles Calchaquies", "La Quebrada de Humauaca" and many other fantastic places to know in bike) I can find you hosting, show you the city and giving advice about good roads or points of interest.
Also, a friend and me are going to make te "Paso de San Francisco" on march 9, visiting Copiapo, Bahia Ingleses, La Serena, and returning by the "Paso de Aguas Negras", to San Juan where we are going to visit Parque Talampaya. (Honda Transalp and KTM adventure) I also I know florianopolis (the north beach (Canasvieras, Juerer, Cashoerias, Lagoinia, Playa Ingleses y Playa Brava) are a mini argentina). I strongly recommend that in your return to argentina, go to Misiones and visit de "Cataratas del Iguazu" one of the most beatiful places you can Know in the world. For any questions I am available Marcos |

Curious why you skipped past Mendoza ... and N. Argentina? Do you plan to cover the North after B.A.? Skipping the South as well? No Ushuaia and S. Chile too?
Pretty sure you could make most of it on your Tiger. But the North can be HOT now ... I'd do the South NOW and the North like in March. I loved the north of Argentina. Anyway, good luck. Great pics! ... and great Dakar experience! LUCKY! Rubber Side Down!

Very nice coverage of B.A. ! Probably my favorite city in the world ... btw ... by now I'm sure you figured out it's just a bit bigger than Portland ![]() Hope Tango lessons are going well. The Portenos have their own language ... lots of weird slang not heard in the rest of Argentina. I hung out with Portenos and flew all over Antarctica with Argentine Air Force. A great experience. Now, Argentinian Spanish is the most easy for me to understand. (my Spanish is not great anyway) Looking forward to more reports as you head North! Anxious to see how your Tiger holds up to all the abuse. !Que le via bien! Suerte! |

Nice to meet you all!
Hey Guys.
I'm in Rio Gallegos right now and hopefully heading south to Ushuaia soon. I hope to meet some of you guys soon. I'll be in the Ushuaia area for awhile and then heading back north sticking close to Chile but on the Argentinian side. Then over to BsAs by April. After that the plans are wide open. I will definitley reach out to you guys when I am coming your way. A little about me. I am riding a 2001 KLR 650 from San Francisco. I actually started this grand trip by splitting a shipping container with Fritz from LA to Valparaiso. Great times! Miss you man! I have at least 5 more months to explore South Am, if not a year. My rear suspension lost all of its oil about a week ago, so I'm trying to sort that bit out. But all is well. Any and all advice would be much appreciated! Cheers, Bear aka Stovepipe |
