Isle of Man TT suggestions
A friend and I are planning to attend this year's TT race and are thinking of leaving the bikes in Liverpool and be a pedestrian for the week in Douglass. Anybody have experience with the race and can offer suggestions? Also looking for thoughts on storing a bike on the mainland for the week. thx.

Take the bike. You'll regret it if you don't, trust me... It's the ultimate piece of Tarmac to ride down &, as an old guy there once said:
"Going to the TT without your bike is like going to a brothel without your dick. You're kind of missing the whole point...!"

i didnt ride my bike that much when i was over, was too busy partying lol
if you dont wanna pay the expense of bringing it then i wouldnt bother. unless you are absolutely dying to get over the mountain to say you have done it. but youll be doing it with 1000 nutters riding like assholes, you wont be left alone to enjoy it!

Appreciate the recommendations. I'll be traveling from Germany and getting my share of left hand driving enroute so I'll stick to partying for my time at the TT
. Any recommendations on parking the bikes in Liverpool? thx

I live in the Isle of Man so if I can be of help I will - just ask.
As for parking in Liverpool however I can't think of any long term parking near the ferry terminal (though there is at Heysham near Lancaster which is the "main" ferry port for the Island). You may want to try asking at this forum: http://www.iomtt.com/Home/Forum.aspx If I wanted to be on foot for the TT and had no particular plans for the journey inbetween, I would fly all the way from Germany. Nothing is cheap with transport to here, but the closest you'll get to value is Easyjet from either Gatwick (south of London) or Liverpool airport. |

Nyarlathotep thanks for the link, good resource. We have ferry tickets reserved and working booking for a B&B so things are coming together. We can wait for May to get here. - dj

Earliest you can book is after the first day of the festival (practice week) in 2014.
