Good evening Mr. Mark . I just rode in from a 4175 mile ride three hours ago. Still wearing all the gear trying to thaw out. Your latest updates are absolutely stellar . Beautiful composition in ALL your photos, with perfect lighting. Well done good Sir... Well Done. I'll catch up with reading your words in the am over a good cup of home brewed java. Until then, enjoy your evening, and it's great to see you up so late on this fine Friday night .

Christmas Eve 2012

Trying to get caught up on my ride after my antarctica trip. I arrived back in town and had booked an apartment with 3 other moto riders for the Christmas and New Year Holiday!

The neighbors kid below had a nice sign on their door.

Got to the place and it was a good reunion! Young James, Sherri Jo, Claude, and Slowphil. Was really great to share the Christmas Holiday with friends and fellow Riders!

Then Christmas Eve afternoon, Young James put on the Santa suit that he purchased and we took a ride. We rode toward the Glacier area, and with some real luck with happened upon a sleigh, made for some great photos! and made some kids happy to see Santa riding by on a large BMW motorcycle!

Radioman and Santa in Ushuaia

I have some hysterical video riding through Ushuaia behind Santa. Hope to get a little video edited this week.

Like his Salute of the giant Blow up Santa on the main street

Or the driver that wanted to hand him a large beer. You have to look close. It was really funny to see Young James err, I mean Santa Admonish the driver

For Christmas day we had invited all the Motorcyclists that we ran into along the way and in town to stop by for some food and drinks! I think we had about 30 people show up!! Fantastic!

Christmas Morning Sherri Jo and Young James opened their gifts (actually they were things that I had carried for them from Equador ).

And Sherri Jo surprised me with a nice gift.

Trying to get a photo with the bikers.... From US, Canada, UK, Greece, Poland, Australia, Germany.

The first to arrive. Mike from UK, and Sterio from Greece

Young James and some of the German riders.

Riders chatting along as the afternoon rolled on.

Everyone trying to get a photo....

One of the riders from Germany had decorated their bike for the holiday!!

Young James had strange noise, and decided to have a look......

More advice than he needed

We enjoyed the holiday and a little time in the Dublin Pub Was a great way to relax and share the holidays!! So glad Sherri Jo got the place set up.

Few days Later, Claude was off for Buenos Aires...... Leaving 4 of us to ring in the new year!!

Wow!

Fantastic photos of the antarctic, Mark - both from you and your shipmates! It looks like you really lucked out on the weather. I can't imagine that it is that nice and sunny very often.

Heh, your boat to Antartica was in the news here in the Netherlands, due to the engine problems.

Still reading your ride report, thanks!

Happy new year!

Within hours it was on the news in Holland. One of the roommates checked online while on the ship.....

Fortunately they fixed the problem to get us back to port without any other ships or transfers, as they cannot tow a ship with passengers. Would have taken much more time.

Oceanwide did a good job and handling the situation, as best they could. Really interesting watching people come to accept that their plans would be changing, especially during the holidays.

Ushuaia

After all the Christmas festivities, we relaxed and did some exploring around Ushuaia.

Climbed up to the Glacier for a little view over the city and the Beagle Channel.

The last 800 meters was steep uphill with rock, then snow!

and a trip out to the end of the road sign so Claude could get his photo!, then a hike and several of the trails

We returned and Young James left us a message. He was hoping that the "bad" guys could not read english

SlowPhil became the Grill master.....

As we dined at the apartment that we had rented.

Had time to update ride reports and blogs. SlowPhil getting a Facebook lesson from Sherri Jo

The image you see appears larger than it really is

We also went to a late showing of "El Hobbit" in 3D (could have done without the 3D).

On the 29th we needed to move to a new place because ours was booked at New Years. We packed up, and then Sj took a cab over. Moto gear filled the Cab.

Arrived at the new place ......

It is also an apartment with 4 beds on the two levels and small kitchen. Will work out as a place to rest up and then celebrate new years at the end of the world.

I have a new addition to my Moto. A small stuffed Penguin from Antarctica!!

As we walk about the new area we are staying, we see some graffiti

Mail some postcards (Claude left this one for us to mail..... our responsibility is done )

SlowPhil and James had a bit of bike maintenance. Phil using my chain breaker to shorten his worn chain. Glad my chain breaker got used!

Jeebus Mark! Make that man EAT! He's a shadow of his former self! If he gets any smaller, we'll have to change his handle to "amediumpacePhil" or "lightjogPhil".... I know his beautiful wife is giving up one of her suitcases to bring him new clothes! Give the woman more room for Shoes! Oh, the humanity!
