We will be competing this year in our Saab 96:
![]() We expect to finish the entire event without needing to even change the oil and 1 spare tire should suffice.

A roof rack on a rally car, that`s a novel idea.

Aussie 4WD enthusiasts call them "roll cages" *...
![]() ... you load them up with spare tyres, eskies, water tanks etc. (you know... all that light easy to pack stuff) and the vehicle becomes so top heavy, that it "rolls" easily of it's own accord.

And to make certain they do go over, don`t forget the compulsory suspension lift on the 4WD.

Here is the Race2Recovery vehicle, #423, in Lima. Apparently they refer to it as the "ratcat."

OK I'm being pedantic but they are no longer Bowlers!
They sold the rights to the Wildcat design to QT Services so the R2R team are using "QT Wildcats" Bowler now produce the EXR the latest development of their Range Rover Sport styled Nemesis although they haven't really done much in the Dakar of late A Bowler Nemesis at the Transiberico (Portugal) in 2008....

Let the FIREWORKS begin
![]() ![]() Eurosport - 2012 Dakar Robby Gordon Gordon, 43, was excluded from last year's race despite finishing fifth while racing under appeal following a row over a tyre inflation system on his car. Preliminary checks by Dakar organisers have found the Hummer to comply with the 2013 regulations. The Dakar Rally takes place from January 5-20. It begins in Lima, Peru and ends in Chile after crossing the Andes into Argentina. Rival Stephane Peterhansel, a 10-times winner of the endurance rally - six times in the motorcycle class and four in a car - said Gordon was not welcome. "This is a born cheat," he told AFP. "We're here to compete, not to show off; this is not the circus, even if it pleases the audience. "We must fight on equal terms. Robby Gordon must comply with the rules. If this is the case, it is welcome. Otherwise... [not]." Gordon's best finish on the rally is third in 2009, the first year it was moved to South America for safety reasons.

Just watched three episodes of Race2Recovery on Eurosport..... stirring stuff!
Looks like I've got greater interest in the cars this year than just the Robbie v Mini battle

For car shows, it's loaded up. But for rally, it's the grab handle to extricate ourselves from the cage.
Vintage cars are really tight when you put a modern FIA cage in them.
