Nice ride report. When you got off at Otter Rapids you could have checked out Newpost Falls. I did a Jeep Tour up there Last month. I plan to ride my bike back there next summer. Contact me next time you are in the neighborhood... I would love to ride with you.

Here is the link to my website and the Newpost Falls Tour.

Enjoy;

James,

Would have loved to see those falls but we didn't know about them. Thanks for the info. Nice pictures on your report.
Next year's trip is going to be in Quebec.

I wouldn't mind riding the Laurentians.

How much fuel can you carry on that thing? And how does your subframe handle all that extra weight?

I can carry ~ 34L of fuel total = ~680km range. The 22L tank can recieve a little better than 23L and the fuel pack juniors 5L each. The subframe is handling it (thanks to the Promoto Billet rear rack) but over the winter I will be fabbing one from steel in my shop. I don't mind a few extra pounds on an adventure bike. I find it handles better on gravel anyway. The EXC is +50lbs lighter than most DS bikes in it's class and has ~double the hp so I am not worried about a few pounds.

Here is a right up of my first tour with this set up minus the saddle tanks;

Missinaibi and Agawa Canyon (1200km)
http://gpsadventuretouring.proboards...lay&thread=107

With the saddle tanks;

Iroquois Falls - Cochrane - Clute Ferry Boat Tour (400km)

Here is part of the EXC adventure bike build here:

The Lynx fairing install here:

Roc Stompa Long Stomp footpegs here:

Please join up and follow the site. I have a section to download GPS tracks for the members. I have thousands of kms of ridable trails/fireroads logged. Not all are uploaded as I only registered my site in Aug 09 (busy riding).

Anyway I can help people with an adventure... It's my addiction!

Enjoy

P.S. If interested we could talk about the Spin Tour and Dirt Cheap Tour I am working on for 2010.

James,

Are you a night hawk like me or work shifts?
I have the disadvantage of living in Niagara, far from adventure riding areas. I do have a place to stay in Quebec on the Ottawa river. Have you ever gone east from Timmins and explored in Quebec to the east and south of Senneterre? That area is nothing but wilderness. That is where we are going next. Here's a pic from a trail I found out there last summer.

I ride an XR600r and only get between 100km and 150km per 10 liters of gas depending on how agressive the riding is. I have a 20 l tank. If I put 10 liters on the back I would snap my subframe in half for sure. I know because I have already done it once. We plan our trips so we can get fuel every 150 to 200 km.
I will definitely join your site. It looks great.

I worked 12 hr shift up to three years ago. I still find Mon - Fri difficult. I was up early for work.

Looking to venture into Quebec next summer. Never been by bike yet.
