wiring up wr300 for duel sporting

hey out there, got a plate already and duel sport kit for my wr300. I needed to rewire the thing and soder wires this time around as I had issues this last year with tail lights sometimes either faiding or connectors rusting out.
I currently run the led and tail lights off a battery. I figured while I was in there to get a voltage regulator from trailtech and hook it up to battery to charge while I was riding. Then I thought...heck cant I just skip the battery and power all led's and blinkers etc using the voltage regulator? Or would it still need to run off battery?

Did the bike come stock with lights if so did it come with a battery? If no battery and you put a battery in it you will need a regulator rectifier to change AC to DC. I hope thats some help im no expert by far.

Bike came with lights. I added battery with dual sport kit for the led lights. I assume this would work for me?

Thats what i did.

2004 KTM 250 exc road legal all most just need mirror and brake switches

I had to add a battery so my brake lights would work at idle. It was all dim didn't think i would like to sit at stop light half throttle.

not every one can buy a new bike its just a toy i can't be making payments on something that don't drive me to work or make me money. Old bikes are cool but 5 to 15 year old bikes are fun i dont race i dont need the best thing at the time. new bikes need the same maintenance done.

I would buy a new four stroke dual sport if i could and im planing on it in three to five years from now if it works out.

That IS old school tech. It's an 09 husky but late 80's two smoke tech.

Cowboy's right- it's too new to be in Old's cool. Not really 80's tech either. The '85 Wr250 I had was the first year for liquid cooling, single shock and front disc brake. Husky put a water jacket ed cylinder around their old air cooled bottom end.
When the kickstarter was moved to the right side there was a complete redesign with more design changes in the early 90's then '02, then '08 I think. The 300 came after that.
If it's water cooled, modern suspension, disc brakes it really doesn't belong here. I would expect you would get more relevant info from the Thumper area. I've posted a few two stroke threads there.

Sorry about that some people like to have an older neat bike and have a newer one they ride a lot. Projects are fun too.

here's a thought---what we all want here is answers

and i would bet that there are a lot more people that have purchased and installed lighting
on one of them thar "newer" type bikes recently than an older 2-stroke.

i would bet that an appropriate answer would pop out much quicker if this was posted up, or even moved over
"to that other section" that Euromad said. This is about that crazy electrical stuff, not 2-strokes. Grab the knowledge of all those 4stroke guys

...besides, all that new tech Trail Tech stuff did not even exist way back then!
