The GS ride is part of the BMW Club's Winter Rally they hold out of Camp Blanding, which is January 18-20. The GS ride is on that Saturday the 19th. It is an all day ride for those adventurous types with GS's. The Rally itself is already sold out (mainly because the military base limits the number of people on base to 550). However the GS ride is open to everyone and has been lead by Bill for the last dozen years or so. He is not even signed up for the Rally if that gives you a hint on the open nature of the ride. We will meet up outside the base, just down the road in Penny Farms about 9:30am. If you are still around, this would be a great ride for your 990 or 950, I can't remember what you said you had?

Anyway, we will have many that join the ride that are not a part of the Rally. We will also have many types of bikes and brands from 250 up to the 1200 GS.

Cheers

Thank you for taking photos Bill and thank you to Rich for uploading them.
I STRONGLY recommend against using street tires unless somebody here looks forward to painful things such as passing kidney stones, giving yourself paper cuts, or regularly picking up your motorcycle for example . I had to tap out after lunch as I strained my right leg from planting it to avoid crashing or some may say I got some sand in my vagina while extending my leg ...
Please plan ahead by bringing plenty of water as you will get dehydrated quickly even with cooler temperatures in Florida winter. (thanks for the H2O Bill)
My right leg is still numb ... see you CADS members at the Wednesday night meeting?

Easy for me to say cause my junk came with 2 sets - silly little street tires and some unused knobs. Guessin you don't have a 2nd set?

Sorry about the short notice on this one but we're doing a practice run of the GS ride tomorrow (New Year's Day). It'll take most of the day. We're meeting up in Penney Farms at a little before 10am and leaving from there. Corner of SR16 and Clark Rd., you can't miss it. It'll be fun, come on out.

Well I have entered the darkside and ventured into a smaller DS..........damn a DR650 much easier and more fun to ride in the woods than the Big Fat Pig......so after all of my trash talking I thinking I am leaving the Beemer at the house and bringing the DR up to play in a few weeks.....maybe I can keep up with Bill this time!!! See you guys in 2 1/2 weeks!

Just because you can ride a big bike where a small bike goes doesn't mean its as fun. I enjoy my DR350 in the woods WAY more than my old KLR 650.

so much truth in that statement!!!! I spent the afternoon yesterday getting acquianted with my new toy......so much more fun in the mud and on the trails. Also much easier to pick up and point in the right direction when it decides to take a nap!!!

Good choice my man, we did the pre-ride today and even though conditions were quite good, the appointed test pig struggled in one or two places. Those place won't be a deal breaker but you'll be happier on the DR. Yeah Rich, he took one for the team today.

The fact is for this one weekend guys travel from all over on big bikes to the rally, it's all they've got. A few have started showing up with smaller stuff on trailers but most'll be on pigs. They know what to expect by now.

Should be a preview coming along shortly.
