I get all my vechicle registrations in jan.

so, here are the costs:

Purchased 11.92 - 1993 Toy. 2x4 reg cab $71.37
Purchased 10.92 - 1993 Toy 4x4 KC DLX $79.27
Purchased 12.03 - Chevy POS 4x4 ext Cab $105.57
Purchased 11.05 - KLR $65.26

Ouch. Good thing the country is going BK.

CO is retarded on the plating cost, no reason at all for the high plating fees.

One thing about CO they must not want people to buy new vehicles. Idea on the Ford Edge was my wife will keep it for at least 10 years. Then who knows...idea was to take the cash saved up and buy new...but I think it might be used out of principle not to give the State anymore then we have too on taxes.

I know some will say "but our roads"...LOL Come from Michigan or other East Coast places and these roads are buttery smooth. I have yet to need to swerve to avoid a tire deep pothole like was common place in Michigan. Considering they have to do road work YEARLY in MI, and the registration is like $120 I just don't see why here in CO it needs to be a wealth tax on people!!! A $100K Porsche causes no more damage then a Ford Focus but yet registration on the Porsche is like $4,000 a year...there is NO reason for that.

The high Registration is why half my neighbors run out of state tags at least on one of their vehicles. The Air Force guy across the street runs Wyoming on both of his vehicles and he has been here for 2 years now...LOL

Perfectly legal. All military personnel are allowed by law to keep their vehicles registered in their home state of record. As well as State Income Taxes. When I was in the Air Force my vehicles were always registered in AL as it was cheaper than the states where I was stationed. Also kept my State Income taxes in Al too. Just one of the perks of Military life.

Military personnel don't have to run plates in the state they reside in. They declare any state of the union as their "residence" and run plates from there. It's not unusual to see Alaska plates on base, that's a good state to pick as your residence...

I was not saying it was not illegal or wrong...just stating something. Still I know its not his home state at least when I meet him he comes from East Coast (I forget now)...they had different plates. Also talking with him, he will never be moving from CO.

Either way I don't care I give anyone a THUMBS up that bypasses CO wealth tax of plating a vehicle here.

I read an article today that stated new car sales were carrying the colorado econmy in 2012. It also indicated that current new car sales are soaring. I was amazed.

The 1st new vechicles I ever purchased, I still own. I will not get rid of them until their maintenence/repair costs average a monthly new vechicle payment. On my 20 and 21 year old toyotas, the monthly maintence/repair costs are negligible.

The 10 year old chevy may have to go in the next couple of years due to constant electrical issues (3 replacement dash boards in 100k miles) and the 3rd is acting up. I would never buy a chevy ever again.

But, the cost to register a new vechicle may have me replacing that truck with a 10 YO toyota as I need a full size PU often enough to justify owning one. When I can, I rely on my small PUs.

My 2002 Astro just came up for renewal at 85 bucks or so. Since all my vehicles are 10 years or older, I only pay the rip off taxes and not the double rip off taxes. Still, it makes we wonder how much it is worth to vote in local elections. Think of it this way, your registrations are a poll tax of sorts since you have to vote where your cars are registered. Like I have stated before, when it gets really stupid, I will pick a cheap state and "reside" there with my "vacation" home here. It isn't there yet, but then again I have cheap cars. Another way to do it is simply drive your brother's car who lives in another state-if you trust your brother that is.

I wouldn't be surprised if they start requiring new cars to have taxes in escrow with your monthly payments.

Every other year the registration costs are higher due to the emissions jobs creation program. I think that is +$35 or so per vechicle as well.

Ihave tried driving by the roadside testing stations - but have always had to go the the static testing location for the cert so I could register the vechicles - so costs money + time + loss of work + gas....
