My old R1200GS had a GIVI AIRFLOW that was phenomenal, so I decided to stick with the two-piece windshield concept for this bike. I believe that the space between the two pieces reduces the buffeting. I ride with an Arai XD helmet, so I really appreciate the fact that this windshield does a good job.
The good: 1- Excellent wind protection with no buffeting. 2- Sturdy, high-quality design and built. 3- ability to adjust (not easily though) the windscreen height. 4- Creates a space at the base area for Ez-Pass, water bottles and more junk. The bad: 1- Price (but you do get what you pay for here). 2- It is hard to adjust the tension screws to be able to move the screen up and down easily by hand without it sliding down by itself. I ended up tightening them (4 screws) with an Allen-wrench, so I need to use the wrench every time I want to adjust the screen. Since I'm lazy, I'll only adjust it twice: In the winter and in the summer .3- Not like the GIVI that is tool-less, here you need tools to adjust it and to take the top-part off for serious off-roading. In this case you might as well take the whole thing off. 4- I had to use my Dremel tool and cut some of the plexiglass on the base part to make more space for the headlight screen bracket. Not an issue if yo don't have one. I ride as much as I can, so wind protection in the winter is very important for me. This screen does wonders, and I couldn't be happier with it so far! Avner |

ANVER -
What hand guards are you using? Can you turn Lock to Lock and not bump the Vario screen much?

They are the BMW hand guards, have to wait for his answer about hitting the screen.

Breaking the law...
So I was test driving the 800 with the new steering damper which was going great until I was pulling a second gear wheelie and got snapped by a speed camera... I was at the balance point during the photo so I am hoping that they can't see my plate
Anyways, if I get a ticket I figure I am due, I have narrowly avoided them long enough. The steering damper is awesome though! I haven't even dialed it in and it is tremendous improvement! |
