Tool not just for bikes.
Humble greetings 2-wheeled friends,
My old YZ-125 probably does not count, but I had to register in order to contact you about the nozzle tool. Those of us in the classic car world have trouble holding the collar for 15-19 gallons... it really stinks. With the cap behind the license plate under the back bumper, it involves a lot of bending over and profanity. . ![]() How do I get 7 of them to put one in each car? Do they come with the little Tyvek ATM card sleeves for storage, like you get for credit cards? Do you want me to link you to the classic car sites? ![]() Thanks, John It appears to be proper protocol to list the vehicles in the armada (even though they are 4-wheelers)... so here goes: Original Pace Car from 1972 Indy 500 - Hurst/Olds 455 Convertible 1969 Trans Am Convertible 1970 Shelby GT350 Convertible Rare LT-1/Factory Air 1972 Corvette 1935 Pontiac 3-Window Street Rod (on ebay now) 1970 Mustang Convertible 1969 Firebird 400 Air Coupe |

What States have the nozzles that make filling up a pain ?
An Inmate was nice enough to do a bit of research and unearthed the information below. ( Thanks Sweptwingnut )
What does it all mean ? Buy my EFN Tool, what else ? ![]() Some political history and current state status can be read here. http://taitenvironmentalupdates.com/...-requirements/ Note: while the EPA is stepping away from Stage II Vapor Recovery requirement, it does not mean you will not continue to encounter these pumps. This latest change is on a state by state and station by station basis subject to submission of the appropriate exemption permits, decommissioning process, and testing. Many of these states require pre-established gas pumps to keep the old technology but allow new or renovated gas pumps to forgo this extra amenity. http://taitenvironmentalupdates.com/...-requirements/ Quote:

This has been suggested, let me know what you think
Here is the fuel nozzle tool doubling as a sidestand support.
![]() It hinges at the pin and you double it up under the sidestand or slide it open to refuel. At the moment both parts are made of plastic with the card having about the same surface area as a crushed on end soda can, a common sidestand support. A tether has been suggested and I'm trying to find a hollow pivot pin to allow that to happen, it's still a work in progress. __________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ _______ Here are a couple of pictures with the tool used as a sidestand support. I was even able to lift the rear wheel off the ground using the sidestand as a fulcrum. This is a 500 lbs bike Either side can be used. ![]() ![]()

What is a vapor recovery nozzle?
I think I vaguely remember but I haven't seen or had to battle one of those in years! Kidding aside, seriously? Are those infernal things are still in use? I honestly had no idea. I guess I don't get out much. Here in northern New Hamshire and western Maine I don't think there are any such fuel dispensers. Just the old-fashioned bare metal nozzle. Sounds like they are still a rather widespread nuisance! If you live and ride "out there" I suspect you need this tool!

Looking at the map above even your New Hampshire and Main look to have some of those nozzles. Here in California it's mainly the metropolitan areas that are saddled with this set up. |

I don't know how good your data might be. I can speak authoritatively only about NORTHERN New England where I travel in the northern halves of VT, NH, and much all of ME very regularly. In this region, I haven't seen one of these nozzles anywhere in a long time. I assumed quite incorrectly, they just didn't exist anymore.
Now bear in mind there are not a lot of cities in northern New England. Not huge ones anyhow. That's precisely why I live here. But if I did have to wrestle with those foolish nozzles I would be sporting the tool. No doubt about it.
