The hill I work for now has a Pinroth Bison on demo. 450 hp and auto tension tracks I'm told. Too bad they hired me as a liftee or I'd love to play with that thing. |

My dad used to have a Cushman trackster. I have no idea why, which may explain why it didn't stay around long

So, how do the tracked ATVs work in the snow? Boondocking? They are heavier than a bike so I imagine they probably don't do as well on steep inclines with deeeeeep powder. I think the heavier the machine the harder it will be to get floatation even though the ATVs would have more track surface area to float on (although the TImbersled Mountain Horse has a huge track). I saw some vids of some side by side ATVs with tracks and they didn't float all that well and lacked the power to make it up even a moderate incline with moderately deep snow.

The USMC had a pair of screw drive vehicles at Parris Island when I was a kid. My dad said they could never actually run them because absolutely devastated the salt marshes. Sure looked cool sitting there though.
