Motorcycle snow chains

I would like to build a set of these myself. I think I found a decent source for getting the chain for yourself to make your own set here:

It's a pair of tire chains for an ATV. I'm thinking that there would be more than enough chain there to make a set for a bike, front and rear. Maybe even two sets.

Then you just need to source the cam buckles/ straps. You could either just cut down already put together straps or build your own using a cam buckle and a shorter length of nylon strapping. I know my local hardware store sells both.

I could build a set completely from my local hardware with the exception of the tire chain. I'm thinking that the v bar tire chain would be superior to just regular twisted chain because it's almost like having studs. How big a difference do you think there would be between the v bar chain and just regular twisted chain from the hardware?

If this would help with stability on snow/ice that would be awesome. I would love to ride in the snow, except for the whole thing with my rear tire wanting to slide back and forth behind me, which is kind of scary.
