Thanks. Doubt I'll ever get my Tiger that far north, I'd probably have to rent an inferior make from someone in the area. And it wouldn't even have an attractively plump and pink-on-the-inside tank bag either.

I don't know the expanse of Eagle Rider rentals. But, my dealer is an agent for them and rents out Triumphs.

My wife and I have rented from EagleRider a few times and they frequently show an "off" brand bike like a Honda ST1300, or Suzuki V-Strom in their fleet but they have always been "out" or "not available" every time we've rented so we've always had to pick a Harley to ride.

I led a NYD ride, in the rain, on my mostly setup 2013 Tiger 800XC and was very pleased with how well it did in the conditions we were riding in!



No problems for me on the Tiger, but a few other bikes on the ride didn't fair so well...

You know, when I booked a GS12 from E/Riders in LA, back in 2007 they didn't have it when I turned up. They wheeled out an RT instead. My words were exactly ; "I'm not riding that pile of shit".
Somewhat taken aback at what I'd said, they took me back into the office. I said the reason for wanting the GS was that I was going to be riding small rough roads. So they hunted around and found me a KTM950ADV in their Santa Monica depot. Asked me; "will that do"?
I scratched at my beard and replied ; "I suppose so".
Inside my head I was going WHOOOP WHOOOP! So fair play to them. At least they found me something similar.
The sad thing is that two days into my tour the KTM split its radiator so I had to take it back.........from Napa. When I got back to LA they'd just had a GS12 returned. "Do you want to take the BMW?" Do bears shit in the woods?

Hey guys, my first post on the forum. I'm new to the ADV world but have raced mountain bikes and motocross for quite a while. I've seen a few people mention here and there about all the rattling and racket the Tiger makes riding off road. The bike rocks offroad for how large it is, but the noise drives me nuts. I have checked chain adjustment multiple times and even have my center stand and side stand strapped in place. Is anyone running into the same noise or had any success in quieting it down?

That noise is most likely chain slap. Just ignore it & ride.

or maybe center stand. i use double sided velcro to wrap around the center stand. or put in ear plugs

He said he'd already done that.

Someone a while ago put a video camera looking at the chain run underneath the swingarm and it seems that the noise is the chain hitting the plastic protector. Not a lot you can do about it really but at least you know it's not something falling off.
