There may have been a plan but I left early.

Try dualsportmaps.com for tracks in the area - there are many in the Tucson area.

Hey Gents,
I will be arriving in TUS within a few days to ride a 690E I purchased awhile back on ADV.
I am looking for cheaper housing/hotel/tent ideas for about 2 weeks.
Could basecamp in TUS the entire time and make daytrips or plan a big loop to ??

Just want warm & sunny trails...really looking forward to desert riding.

Is solo to Copper Canyon discouraged nowadays?

I realize "cold" is a relative term, especially if you are from Alaska, but it is cold at night here this time of year. Not bad for a couple nights, but 2 weeks would not be fun in my opinion. Anywho, there are hotels at $30/night around here and at least you have a shower. Recently I stayed somewhere that offered camping and casitas and it was only $5 more for the casita than it was for the camping spot, crazy. If you are young and adventuresome go on couchsurfing.com and look for someone who will provide a place for free...or as they used to say...ass, grass or gas no one rides for free.

I hear ya but cold is cold, which I define as anything more than needing a T-shirt. Alaska is just "colder". Right now, I want to thaw and I appreciate your warning.

I am too old to take advantage of couch surfing (herniated disc about 12 years ago ended that lifestyle)...and prefer to pay or trade work so I don't owe anyone any favors.

Looking back through thread I see some talk of Pto Peñasco. Opinions on solo rider?

Here is my opinion. Mexico would be dangerous for a solo for one reason only. If you get hurt you have no one to make sure you get out safe. I have lots of contacts who tell numerous stories of getting hit by cars, running into donkeys etc. etc. and several of them came close to dying. With that said, life is short, be safe.

Thanks. You are preaching to the choir I have long agreed with what you say since my best friend died in an auto wreck down there about 6 years ago.
But I saw a few messages on this thread about guys riding to Pto Peñasco solo and so I thought I would run it by you.

I am not looking for a great adventure, just wanting some warm weather and cold beer.
