F 650 GS/Dakar rear rack ext - Page 11

Just got my rear rack. Really nice piece of hardware! Only minutes to install. IMHO a must have.

Rick:

I received the radiator guards, and they are a joy to behold. The powder coating finish is flawless. Moreover, they installed quickly, as everything fit without any alteration (a rarity in the world of the 2009 G650GS). I think the engineering is great. As you know from your ride to Alaska, we have lots (and lots more) of gravel roads. I had to pry gravel out between the radiator and the front frame. I'm sure I won't have that problem again.

Thank you for making up some more of these, and getting one to me so quickly. I really appreciate it.

Important to note that the rack doesn't fit 2001-2004 Dakars. The grab handles between the 2001-2004's and 2005-2007 are different. The four bolts on top of the 2005's grab handle don't exist on the earlier 2001-2004 model.

Rick,

Just a quick message to let you know that I received the rear rack extension (F650GS single cylinder) delivered to the UK in superb time and carefully packaged. In fact, it took longer to get the product out of the packaging than to install!

I would post picks to show the quality of the product but it would only confirm that my rear subframe is bent and I don't want that to reflect on your product

Got my new rack. Fits great. Minutes to swap and looks good on the Dakar. Rick was easy to work with and provides great customer service.

One thing I mentioned to Rick was my Rok Strap buckles are a tight squeeze through the holes in the rack, but can work. He's going to get a set and test the sizing. The rack does a great job for strapping bags down for my commute. Keeps things nicely above the hot exhaust.

BMW F650gs and Dakar owners should look at this.

That's a set if the non-adjustable Rok Straps. Great product and the perfect companion to your rear extension rack. The non-adjustable version comes in handy when used to strap down a bag or load that is a predictable or consistent size.

I always carry that OR compression sack you see in the photo. I keep my sleeping bag, Therm-a-rest and clothes in there. With the combination of your rack and the Rok Straps, it's quick and easy to snap on or off, and it's very secure.

Just wondering if you have had a chance to have a look at the new Husky Terra TR650?

Husky, now owned by BMW, has based this new bike on the GS650 and whilst the bikes are quite different, many parts are direct from the BMW parts bin, still with the Fatherlands stamp!

So, my point is; you may well have an as yet untapped market for your Dakar Adv Farkels!!!??? : Deal

There is a great deal of interest in this new bike and the reviews are mostly very positive.... It is a golden opportunity as everyone is waiting on the Farkels to be developed...

I'm not sure if you are taking a holiday break or not but I did post on the TR650 Owners Stupid Questions thread and whilst there was no direct response to my post- there was an immediate response from another inmate vendor who also confirmed a match to some GS components...
Also some owners re-confirmed the desire to purchase skid-plates, top racks, etc
Anyway you need to jump in yourself and put your best foot forward...

As they say - I've led the horse to water...

Now it's up to you to drink or not...

well 8 days for the rack to turn up down here in australia
already on the bike and stated elsewhere on here in this thread took longer to get it out of the packaging than to fit it to the bike

great service and good to deal with
any questions I had were answered by just emailing him

Mate, delivery service to Australia was terrific - just 7 days from payment. All securely wrapped and tracking number meant I could set up email advice from both Australia Post and Canada Post telling me where the package was.

I was across the creek in New Zealand but had time to fit the rack up before the weekend. Only took a few minutes and it worked a treat. Added the rear brake guards now but too busy at work to fit up the rad guard and centre stand plate - jobs for after Easter 'cos a four day weekend is for riding.

I have some B&B and TT stuff and the finish, fit and functionality of Rick's gear is right up with the expensive stuff.
