Maybe his mirror fell off?

Reseeding would be wrong, but I can imagine Yamazaki-San talking to Etienne about the x5 rule just about now..

Also we'll have to wait and see if anyone else incurred any transit penalties

Why would they bother putting up such a screwy short ass x3 time in reverse order, if they didnt want to see some shakedown in the order? To re-seed would really eff up any attempt at strategy, thats for sure?

Speaking of which, whats tomorrows stage like, besides more dunes?

Obviosuly it depends on conditions but unless its all dunes theres gonna be dust which will leak alot of time. Cyril is starting in the perfect position, 29th is way to far back but I may end up eating my words tommorrow if helder wins the stage!

2) Starting Order
a) For the 2nd Stage, bikes will start in order of the prologue classification: the first 10 bikes every 3 minutes, the following 10 every minute, the remainder 1 by 1 or 2 by 2 every 30 seconds.
Quads will start mixed with the bikes in the order of the combined bike/quad prologue classification

Anyway all this speculation and rumor mongering this early in the game is just hot air. Today was just a warm up. The real Dakar begins tomorrow.

Everyone has got to be enjoying the dust and heat in the bivouac by now

So... Helder lost 40 secs to Despres, times 5 that's 3'20".

But he will be exiting to the track in the 29´th position, that's around 40 minutes behind the Chaleco and 28' behind Despres. If the course is not to tight and overtaking is not a problem that's not a bad place to be.

I have no idea how you manage to pace yourself in a 12 km clocked section, but I would think Helder's bet for today was to go just a bit slower. The 5x factor really messes all the tacticts! Interesting!!!!
