Airhead hacked
I finally got the Cozy sidecar attached to my '83 R100RT but couldn't get it out of the driveway. The +31F temperature last Monday made the driveway pretty slick.
Is there anyone in the Interior that has tire studding equipment or knows of a shop that would be willing to install studs? I'm still shopping around for a more suitable rear tire than the sport bike tire I picked up on my road trip last summer to CA.

Looks Nice
Richard,
Didn't know you were interested in hacks. I have a fair bit of reading material on the subject that I'll send your way. I got nearly all of it from AP McDonald, who owns Parks Highway Towing just north of Nenana with the statue of a Marine our front. He's a wealth of sidecar info and recently restored an early Honda 750 with a sidecar. Great guy to talk to. |

I don't know if I'll make it down to south central this winter as I still have to learn how to ride it. Next summer though...

studs for the ice, knobs for the snow.... big knobs. TKCs are ok, D606 is better, a MT21 better yet
get a face sock, a neck gator and a heated visor for sure. heated gloves, vest, etc as required and forget motorcycle boots.... not warm enough |

You need to go to BT this Monday
And tell us all about it.. Cubdriver was at BT last month and If ya pick the right time you could catch him at College Coffee house.. With all the all the warm weather you on the road?
That would make a great rig for D2D / Top of the World / Inuvik run this year.. Want to come?

http://www.hippohands.com/Hippo%20Hands.htm Check out this link, I know that I already proved I know nothing about your RT ,but the Hippo Hand work real well for the real cold weather. Do you have heaters in your grip? It's a small Canadian with a reasonable pricing and shipping IMO http://www.oldtimergarage.eu/catalog...tion=1&x=0&y=0 I'm also looking in this direction. Not worth a darn for the highway speed but kinda fun in the neighborhood Bob

Another blogger in Colorado picked up a couple of sets of these for his Ural and he wrote about it here but I don't know if he's had a chance to try them out. I just ordered a IRC TR-1 trials tire and if there is enough clearance, I would be tempted to try out the chains as well. He is co_g30 on these forums. Richard |

I borrowed a trailer to get the rig out of the driveway down to a parking lot. After a couple of hours of right turns, left turns, figure 8's, etc. I headed down the road for a test run. Things went well, no steering vibration, it pulled a bit to the left slightly at 50mph and the rear sport bike tire spun too easily. A good day...

Looks great Richard
Are there any quite places up there were you could practice some panic stops? Keep letting us know how it goes. I don't that much snow down here, but I think I'll do some running around tomorrowBob

I'm kinda new here, been a member a long time, but just starting to spend time more frequently,
and post. I remember seeing someone riding a shovelhead on the Johanson a few years ago, maybe several, not sure how long ago. He was wearing bunny boots and I think it was maybe 10 or 20 below. All wrapped up, couldn't tell if I knew him or not. |

Nice looking rig BTW.
Used to be a guy years ago riding a Beemer with a black hack, always had his dog with him. |
