Hi to all the new and old inmates in the F5irehouse! Unfornatually I can't follow all the stuff this year, 'cause of work, damn. Just sneek in here every now and then and following the trackers.
I hope we can help Manuel quite a lot, every year ADVriders help someone who really need it. Good work everyone!

... and back to work ...

Morning, everyone!

OK, it looks like I woke up at exactly the right time. Just checked paypal, and you all have been generous- I have ~$1320 since last night, and Dave has $1440 for me, so we're close enough to perfect.

Let's stop with donations until we have a plan to get Manuel dinero by some other route. If I see anything else come in, I'll ask here what to do, I can refund, or if we have a plan for how to make it available to Manuel, we can do that.

Now to catch up on the firehose...

I disagree.

He's not opening the track, so as any backmarker will, he can just follow the tracks of those in the lead.

It looks like the tracking has waited for you, nothing for the last 10 mins

I think they do that to confuse the map makers.

I'm wondering if it isn't worth derating the engine's output in the interest of getting a more reliable machine. Surely a couple of kW here or there won't make or break your rally if you're not one of the aliens? ... but a blown engine and it's all over! I think I'd rather ride a slightly slower machine!
Glen was riding a GHR Honda, I dont believe they had anything else but a stock engine in there, with a larger stator.

The problem is the weight of the nav gear and the fuel. If you de rate the engine you may very well end up stuck somewhere in the sand. So I think they leave it up to the riders to nurse their engines. The moral of the story with a 450 is dont ride your engine flat taps all the time, only for a few minutes before giving the oil a chance to catch up. At least thats what I did.

Some of the guys put on oil coolers etc as well. Im not sure of the specific GHR honda mods.

From 2 on they can all be following tracks - he's just doing it quicker - but he won't trust them and will be navigating also.
