Yeah, manufacturers web site will probably have it all explained.
Bottom line is, you can not scientifically prove which oil is better.

To claim that one cannot prove which oils are better than others via science is ridiculous. Did you even take the time to read the damn thing?

I use Shell Rotell T6 in every motor I own. It cost $20 a gallon at wallyworld or $21 a gallon at your local auto parts store. I get it at the auto parts store because I hate seeing this:

Which oil for F800?
Tough decision for me ![]() BMW recommendation: BMW Motorrad High Performance Öl 15W-50 http://www.bmw-motorrad.dk/se/sv/ser...MC_2012_MD.pdf Castrol recommendation (by Manufacturer's recommendation): Castrol Power RS 4T 10W-40 http://www.castrol.com/castrol/ifram...tentId=7081455 Castrol is a full synthetic, Bmw oil is probably not synthetic. I understand Castrol recommendation as a recommendation from Rotax??? Because the Rotax is engine manufacturer. What are your thoughts on all of this?

When switching over from Regular oil to synthetic, I will use a semi-synthetic oil for two oil changes (every 3000 kms) before I go to full synthetic.
It's just me..........No science behind it.

Why do you think that it is best to do this?
Thank you for your opinion!

Start with mineral, then go to semi synth (or full later on). There was maybe some background to this back then, but nobody could prove it then, same as now. It makes sense either way, just like the 2 different break-in procedure camps (do it by the manual, or trash it from day one).

Yes, I heard about this two ways break- in the engine.
Interesting theory, especially the other one with full-throttle (gas do kraja) on the highway

Are you kidding?!?!?! This is the ONLY reason I go to Walmart. Any single random person at Walmart will have one or more of following three characteristics... 1) Multiple food/oil stains on clothes or 2) an impressively bad hair do or 3) some form of sleepwear on (slippers, flannel pants, etc). This is SCIENTIFICALLY proven and I'm even working on a mathematical equation for it. Also, the clientele at autoparts stores here in SC are just as bad if not worse than Wallyworld. On the VW TDI club forum I'm a member of, oil discussions are also all the rage (pun intended). However, there is a good bit of science over there by Used Oil Analysis. However, not sure that it is relevant/worthwhile here... I say buy something that meets OEM specs, that you like, and run it!

OK, but this oil- Amsoil can not be obtained in the EU.
Does anyone know which oil is filled into a container of BMW Motorrad High Performance Öl. I love to hang out manufacturer's recommendations, but do not want to pay too much.
