I see bikes and quads run 1km further on the SS tomorrow, and they have a refuel stop at around 173, So maybe extra 1km to get off and on the track for fueling?

Yep, outside communication is not allowed, unless you YELL without any electronic device. Then again, a spectator probably saw what was going on, called his friends, who cmmunicated it to HRC in the bivouac. So Johnny did nothing wrong!

Any Spanish speakers want to take a crack at this tweet from Carlos Sainz? Google translate wasn't exactly revealing...

"Malas noticias. La organización ha decidido volver a ponernos la penalización de los 21 mnts. Una vergüenza dan ganas de coger las maletas.

The race continued without me as I would have to wait for a my extremely fast, bright orange, Support vehicle, piloted by none other than the fastest 4-wheel driver in the desert, Robby Gordon and his Navigator Kellon Walsh. They kindly dropped off a care package that would get me back going. After 20 or so more minutes of repair I was back underway.

Honda should have taken a page from the playbook of the Safariberg/Husaberg Rally Team of 2012. - If I recall, they ran a dual fuel pump system (one internal/one external) that could be switched over quickly if one failed.

They probably had a "hunch"?
"Hey Carl, you know that problem our bikes have? the one with the fuel pump? maybe I'm going crazy here but bare with me: what if we send some spare fuel pumps on the special with that nascar guy as a delivery boy? maybe this way, our riders may actually finish the stage..."

PS: I actually ride a honda...

Sainz lost his time back. Now he's 21min behind Peterhandel. I guess so many had the same exact problem, they decided they couldn't give just one guy his time back.

Yes you’re correct. I purchased Rod's bike from Garry and it has a spare fuel pump which takes about 2 minutes to changeover. Clever piece of work!
