I know that's hard to believe but my family did a lot of traveling with the military. So we moved every year, sometimes more. There was a phenomenon you would see on the interstates where there would be a gas station on each side of the Interstate. They would have a big Gas Price sign that said, "Gas War" and had the price. Usually written with a spray can. The 2 stations would each try to price the other one out of business I guess. I just found a pic for one but I've seen it much lower
