I'm still trying to figer out what happens to the official timing at a certain point. De timing really gets messed up with people coming in later or driving over the same waypoints at another time? I spent a few hours only watching and calculating, but I don't have a clue yet how to determine if they are correct or how they should be corrected. If they pass the spot for a 2nd time then of course that's impossible.

I have to leave my place for an hour, but hmmm.. is that a good idea? I almost don't dare to leave you (and the server) alone

Pål aslo ran into some small trouble with fuel at the end of yesterday stage, but after changing from rear to front tank, bike started. We blaimed bad quality fuel / found nothing special inside tanks, except everydays "black color" fuel filter. Fuel is shit quality in these countries ..

They do when they can see them, and then the sentinels are still working on the bike.

Select "PROFILE" view on dakar.com site - live tracking. WP bubbles are at top, mileage marks at bottom.

There is no way JC should be reseeded.
To be clear, they didn't give him his lost time back, he was just moved up in the starting order. The logic is that JC will most likely turn in a pretty decent time on the next stage and be back near his "natural" start position.

In the mean time it is considered dangerous (for all parties) to have a rider with JC's pace riping through a field of mortals. I can't say I disagree with the logic.

And Javier Whatisname from outer pradesh on the Wantazuki 450 #?47... who started next to dead last, consistently on leg 1, 2 and three has climbed first in the 80's, then 60's and yesterday top 30... has a fuseible link off the stator blow today, spends 3,5 hours fixing it with cigarette papers and foil (no big orange DHL van for him) and makes his finish cut off to the bivouac with twenty minutes to spare... works all night (on his own) and makes the start line (where Jesus Christ should have been off in front of him) but the flatbillboard boy gets shuffled back up front, and lil' javier has the privellige of starting back at pos 163... all over again.

You have to guesstimate it by looking at the color of the sky, mood swing pattern of the ASO data entry guy's wife/gf and the smell out of their kitchen sink.

it's at approximately the 39 km mark... (where the MOTO course diverts from the principle route) if you cross reference f5lood profile diagrams a few pages back;
