Just finished a complete rebuild of the hexcopter I posted a few pages back. The aluminum arms have been replaced with carbon fiber, saving nearly a pound. The ESC's were replaced with Turnigy Plush 25A's, giving much smoother throttle response. It's flying better than ever! And a camera pod has been added.

Cool!
Is that how it comes out of the box? I've never considered an RC tank before, but it would be fun to assemble something like that.

Quote:
Tank has forward, reverse, steer, spin. Turret has 320* rotation and cannon has 20* up and 20* down motion. Once everythuing is on, tank will light up. On the Tx is a pushbutton to "start" the tank with simulated sond. The tank will change sounds depending on drive function. There is also a simulated machine gun sound, and cannon sound with a recoil action. There is also smoke using mineral oil. Sound level can be adjusted and smoke can be turned off. Best part is the cannon. It is actually an airsoft gun! It has recoil also. It's fun! There are some quality control issues but it works. It comes with a box of add-on stuff like tools, machine gun, ladder rungs, antenna, etc. Also, extra smoke oil and airsoft pellets.

Tamiya has tanks you assemble but they are pricey.

Yep, that is correct! Mine, the upgraded version with metal tracks and metal sprockets, was $195 with shipping via Amazon. LHS has some upgraded versions under the Taigen name. They're 2.4Ghz but also $40 more.

Heng Long is the name of those tanks....I have had a Pz III for about a year or so now. They are very fun, some come with an airsoft canon...and it will flat zip out those little plastic BB's.
This is not mine, but this is the same kind of tank.....if you search youtube for Heng Long tanks you will get bunches. They just came out with a sherman. here is a good video link....sorry never figured out the imbed thing https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bsJA...H9HOl3ET-LRkZQ

Yep, mine is a Heng Long. I like it but not sure I should have bought it.
![]() I never got into surface vehicles and maybe I shouldn't have. They're just boring to me. But, I do like my little HPI Mini Recon. Just ordered a BL kit for it. I may sell the tank...I dunno

I like my tank, sure it does not get a great deal of use, but I do enjoy it none the less.....it is a different kind of thing.
The airsoft thing adds some fun to it as well.....mine will burry the BB into cardboard at about 5 feet.

If you look in the gallery mine is the one with the big pigeon on it. Runs of propane torch tanks. It's pretty neat and draws alot of attention |

Posted this in "then and now" pics - thought this thread is a better spot.
King, NC had one of the greatest RC Speedways in the US. After numerous national championship events in the late 80's and early 90's it looked like this;
![]() Then the hobby faded, money dried up, and local racers were left reminiscing for nearly 20 years. Neglect and a long list of new owners left the once great track to the mercy of mother nature; ![]() ![]() Then, one man, once a boy racer, my brother (real brother), wanted to relive the old days. ![]() That led to phone calls, meetings, inquiries.... and ultimately - permission to clear the track and see how it goes. ![]() ![]() ![]() Word spread to the old crowd that The King might be ready for another run, one more shot at a WIN. As of May 2012, a small group of friends had pulled of the miracle of bringing the concrete back, the red and white barriers upright again - the dream had indeed come true! ![]() ![]()
