Riding solo is fun at times, but a ride is usually more fun in a group.

Seems like GCDSR has slowed down a bit. The official rides are mainly fireroads but there are a few people on the board that post singletrack rides. The April 150 has been a good ride the last few years. I also just found out about SCR dirt board and they seem to have fairly regular rides but I haven't been to any yet.
Yeah, yeah, I know, crotch rockets are no good in the dirt.

Yea, I know Scott, although I would typicaly not even go out Latrobe, we did a run on it early part of last year in order to get tires dirty. He, he...practice! ??? OK, one of these days we'll hook up with you...

Because Latrobe road is not some kind of big challenge...I took a relic of yesteryear...



Another go round for the lowest laying area is the camp far west/smartville route. At least with that one ya can get out and do some highspeed dirt. You can swing around and exit the area through wolf road. You can stop in at the old town of spenceville and take the hike around the loop. Old bomb test site, washed out bridge. Lotta times with that one our loop includes a trip cross the N F American at ponderosa.

For those who had eyes shut last april...here's that 150 through my camera eye...

I'll go on the 2013 this year if they have one.
I expect each and everyone of you posters on this thread to go too...

Where is everybody? The dirt was perfect last weekend!

I posted a ride on GCDSR for last weekend and got not a single response. wth?

Same post on MLDS and thankfully Eldo graciously drove all the way from Mt Aukum to join me. We didn't see anyone until late in afternoon.

Is everyone waiting for dust and heat and kid's soccer game conflicts to return? Sarcasm aside, I understand if you're waiting for the high country to open up, but we rarely see anyone up there either!

Remember when you would rush through your chores to ride a Briggs & Stratt powered mini-bike in the vacant lot? Not every ride has to be epic. I'm thinking this site has raised the bar so high many sit home unless we're going someplace post-worthy.

Like Stallone (almost) said in F.I.S.T.; Get out and ride!

p.s., Eldo is being his usual modest self; if you can out climb that guy on his Ladies Bike I don't want to ride with you either. ;-)

You need a little bit more advanced notice. Sending out a note late at night for the next morning doesn't even get to those of us who receive GCDSR in digest form in time.

Plus I already had something Saturday morning until 10:00.

I want to participate, but sometimes it takes a few days for me to be able to schedule a ride.

I emailed it about 330 pm Thursday, and got my copy via groups right after that. Actually, I don't even check email after 4 on Friday, given only dialup at home. I can get texts though and feel free to call.

Admittedly, you are essentially right, even two days before is "late notice" for some, and I agree, everyone is busy.
FWIW here's how I (and at least one other guy I know) schedule the next ride; come in late sat or sun from a great ride and say/plan: I'm gonna do that again! Then when the next sat or sun morning comes I ride whatever sounds best, even solo if I have to. And yeah, I know I have the luxury of empty nest/understanding wife and all that.

What's MLDS?

As long as you start at 10:00 or later, I'll come. Once again I have a commitment from 8:00 to 10:00. And I really do need to get out on the bike in some dirt.

hmm, I checked my GCDSR post and it turns out I sent the invite thursday pm (so I corrected post above), and I had a link to MLDS, so maybe you confused my post with that Delta ride one? no matter

MLDS used to be an active DS site, now it is about PMS.

10 is fine, been a bit frosty on roll out anyway.

Okay, I joined MLDS, but it's taking them a while to send my account information out.

But I see your ride listed in the forum anyway. The only issue is that I'm available at 10:00 in Folsom, it will take me another hour to get to Foresthill. Once my account comes through, we can discuss it over there.

I spend the weekends that I do get off of work with my husband, otherwise my rotating schedule gives my several weekdays off, but no one rides on weekdays. I am also limited by my KTM 950, and limited but growing skills.

Sounds nice. I plan to pull the plug in couple years or so, get a bigger bike, and join you bigger bike folks on some longer-range stuff, including weekdays of course. Nice RRs!

Bigger bike for me means no riding alone. It is all I can do to pick the thing up in a parking lot. Be nice to have a smaller bike for exploring solo, but I have other monetary priorities.
I keep an eye on this thread, the bay area and Chico thread, and GCDSR, but have only made it to one ride in the last year. It is all about the timing.....

Great to hear, that's three of us. I'm going to close this ride off before I have to file for a permit.
