cheapo fuel bottle holder.....

I scored a shit ton of fuel bottles last year on sale....Brunton instead of MSR like I usually buy - but they were $2.50 a piece and I couldnt pass them up.

Every fooking thing around my place has extra fuel strapped on it now.....even my push mower - no, not really.

Ive been carrying the fuel bottle in the bottom of my soft bags on my KLR (yeah, cheapo in the title you KNEW a KLR was coming into play....didnt ya) but didnt really like the prospect of my bologna sandwich tasting like fuel if it started leaking (I did pay $2.50 for these.....gotta protect the sandwich).

So there is no way anything Touratech belongs on MY KLR.....so paying the $30 plus shipping for their bottle holder just aint going to happen. Everyone either uses the tool tubes or a water bottle holder.....thats my route.

I was in the next town over at a BMW demo days (the new K1600 is the shit by the way) so I stopped by Scheels All Sports and checked out what they had for bicycle water bottle holders.

Thats when I found THIS gem.....perfect. The Topeak Modula Java Cage.

The price was right at $13 or so. I snapped a couple up and headed home.

I thought I would try it out on the girlfriends (well, she rides it.....I pay for it) bike before I potentially attached crappy worthless shit on my *good* KLR.

Mounted easily.....VERY sturdy. The 30oz Brunton and MSR bottles "snap" right into place. They fit perfect, like they were made for it.

(excuse blurry pics.....my usually very good cell phone camera was being a POS and I was in a hurry to go in and eat)

Hey aaronrkelly, how are those Topeak water bottle holders working out? I would be concerned with how they would hold up once the off road riding begins.

They are still working great...been on each bike for well over 10k miles with zero issues. Had to replace the plastic screws that comes with them because they eventually stripped out but I honestly should have done that to start with.
