i was running at 30fps in the firefox i had (which aparently is OK, did the fix and was running at 60 so thats all fine.
but in firefox i was having huge probs with loading and saving.
as per wrk2surf, updated my v13 to the lasest v17 and not everything is good.
working like a charm.

Can´t upload gpx-file? Converted from Garmin gdb via Babelgps to gpx, runs in Chrome. Nothing happens.....

dont know if conversion is your issue but i use gpstrackmaker for conversion duties with no probs.

Improving File import and route saving is the number one issue we are working on right now.

What works fine on our computers isn't working at all on some of software and hardware set ups our Beta testers are using.

In the future, we need to get Rally Navigator less sensitive to these variations.

Modern computer with IPC off should be 40-60 Frames per second

This speed test issues a number of Google Earth plugin API calls for every frame drawn. The number of frames per second is a measure on how fast this is done.

Rally Navigator may make thousands of calls per second to the Google Earth plugin. This is called "Inter Process Communication" IPC for short. If each of those calls takes a tiny amount longer you immediately suffer massive performance penalties. These can be in the order of 5 - 10 times slower that they should be.

Turn off IPC Control to the Google Earth Plug In

Type "about:config" into your address bar, you'll get to a page with a lot of settings. Find the line for "dom.ipc.plugins.enabled =true" and toggle it to "false". Restart your browser and Firefox will run 3-5 times faster!

Keep up the good work! I've started planting the idea to my local group to buy 6" roadbook holders.

Here is some info regarding GPX import from our developer, Paul van Dinther at Planet in Action

Hi Mike, I had a close look at the various GPX files. Some indeed won't import properly. This is due to the fact that the "trk" (track) section is missing in the file.

It appears that some GPX exporters choose to describe the track using the "route" section in the GPX file and some of the files you gave me contain many routes.

It is clear different applications write GPX data in different ways. They are all compliant to GPX but it is such an elaborate scheme that the same information can be described in many different ways. I found three different formats of route data in the sample GPX files.

Right now, only "trk" is implemented.

Rally Navigator will currently only import GPX files that were saved with route data in the "trk" (Track) section of the file, not with route data in the "Route" fields

It is possible to convert Route GPX files to "Track" oriented using GPSBabel

Here is a screen shot of the GPSBabel track converter with the proper windows open to set the conversion from "routes" to "tracks"

I would appreciate if a few of our testers will try this and report back.



Obviously this could be more user friendly, but does give us an immediate answer to the failed loading some of you were experiencing.

We are exploring the capability to import GPX files that are also in "Route" format.

i'm in the middle of creating a roadbook and reported already several issues. Most important "Km" vs "Miles" or even "Meter" option for non US regions would be great for global use.

But the project is great and love how it works. Also did reating roadbooks in MS-Word, later in MS-Visio (with VBA code on the backend) still wasn't satisfied turned occasionally to TT Roadbook Editor.

But now with RallyNavigator finally a piece of work that can stand my heat...

Running it on my non home PC right now which is an HP Z400 workstation with 4 processors and 4 gigs of ram running windows XP and it is a 64 bit system. Running GE 6.2 and Google Chrome browser and so far my 700 point GPX file loaded nicely into the application and I am off and editing without issue.
