Before going any further get yourself a set of MX boots.

Beside the helmet it is most likely the best investment you can make since you new to the dirt putting a foot down or falling is going to happen.

MX boots will save your leg and ankle.

Hiking, street and dual sport are just not the same.

Spend the coin, if you ever need it you will be glad you did.

Sorry, I crash better than I pose.

It was easy as hell to pick up, I was not injured though. Wife was a little pissy about crashing a bike on the new grass, injuries may still be forthcoming...

More good advice. Funny how we outfit the bike to take a direct J-DAM hit, but don't get or wear the gear for any number of reasons...then that inevitable crash happens...

And I probably got the wrong boots, but they are waterproof, should be warm, and definitely better protection than I had yesterday.
