I guess the Wall Streeters got bored of stocks and real estate. Give it a few years (maybe less), the bubble will pop, and lots of folks will have storage units they can't keep up with any more.

I received one as a Christmas gift. A couple of minutes on the interweb scored me a copy of raspian and the windows installer. The plan is to use it as a media PC running xbmc since my MythTV box is dying a slow death (power supply again). I received the Pi as a kit with the lucite case. It fits a lot looser than your AL case does but all I want is functionality.

My mythtv died the same way... i slowly transitioned away from recording, and went to streaming shows from popular websites...

I talked with a client today about using these to display simple videos on HDTV's. It seems like a good, small, and cheap solution.

I ordered 2 of them today from MCM electronics www.mcmelectronics.com. Only place I could find them in stock. Can't wait to get them!

Gateworks has some reasonable alternatives to the raspberry pi. They are probably twice the size footprint-wise, but they are much more powerful and expandable. They also run a relatively stock linux image. They are pricey from the vendor, but I found a dude on eBay selling the Gateworks Avilia for ~60.00.

The website said they weren't in stock so I requested notification of when they had some. Took less than a 3 days and they had a few in to ship.

That specs for that board shows 64 MB of SDRAM. Pretty much useless for a modern day stock Linux kernel. The latest gen of RaspberryPi has 512MB.
