Yamaha bought out Lorenzo's Rockstar contract. Monster paid Yamaha extra to cover the cost of the buyout.

Will JLo now have to suffer the humility of switching back to Dainese?

They get 46 back, and lookie-lookie, they got a title sponsor.

Couldn't get one with 99...

That is pretty telling.

There is much more to the bidness side of racing than where you finish.

Spies excuses are lame justifications. Months later he almost admits could not adapt his riding style to the bike.

Anyone with a teenager recognizes the pattern.

with all the mechanical probelms I don't know that spies had the better equipment.

Ya don't get many points when you DNF a race.

As we often hear from top sports stars - You make your own luck. All Spies knew was how to make bad luck....all by himself.

All the mechanical problems they had, could not possibly have been all his own fault.

I also think, that when your aim is to challenge guys like Lorenzo or Stoner, your concentration has to be 100%. And you cannot feel uncertain about anything, especially your bike - if you do, you're already behind. With so much trouble in his bike, I cannot blame him, if he lost some of his confidence.

He certainly did lose out on a dependable ride.

I wish Ben better luck next season, and the Ducati engineers as well.

Ok, so Spies should have been luckier, then everyone would be happier. Too bad he wasn't, but at least he's alive and well, so I guess he had some tiny bit of luck afterall.

Is it a title sponsor, or a personal sponsor (Monster) who didn't want a teammate advertising a rival company (Rockstar)?

With Yamaha buying out the rockstar contract, then I'd have to go with title sponsor.
