Excellent RR
Bugger I have finished reading the RR. Now I have to go outside and finish my chores.
I have ridden some of those areas and deep sand on a heavy adventure bike is no fun IMO. Mitas E09 tyres will never grace my front wheel again,. I think they are too small in radius? for sand and tend to dig in making the bike want to pitch you off. Ask me how I know this! My fractures are still healing 12 months later. Not enough flotation for sand, OK for anything else though. They are OK on the rear end. |

Great stuff, thanks.
Yours was Track 100, and the first full crossing of Australia if I'm not mistaken. So the site lives up to its name now. Cheers Peter

![]() Certainly on my bucket list ![]() What was the longest distance you had between fuel points? ![]() The time of year you went - would you stick to that, or suggest another time?

Just 2 weeks before we left, many roads were still closed, but as a result, we were lucky to ride freshly graded roads on many occasions... A bit of water, however, would have made it much harder and much less fun. We were pretty good on fuel. It was only when we bypassed fuel that we ran into dramas (which was only once en route to Tibooburra). On our route, the longest fuel stop was Innaminka to Birdsville, around 380km and then Yulara to Warakurna. Given the soft sand and resulting poor economy, the run from Overlander Roadhouse to Steep Point does require a top up. We only needed 5lt each, but without it, we would not have made it both ways. Good luck. Greg |
