Thanks for the call guys. Gives a real insight into what is happening. Something you just cannot get from words, images and an F5 button

Since Lyndon mentioned that he'd possibly be able to take questions during the next interactive interview I'd like to submit one (which perhaps is obvious to some, but I'm a n00b ;).
How much (and what) maintenance does the bike get every day? We know that Lyndon is super prepared for this and that he's been picking the bike apart time and time again and made sure that everything is at its top performance - how much does this pay off during the race? I'm guessing we're talking about changing oil and air filters at the minimum (and reattaching the nav tower every third day ;), but what else? I'd also be interested in knowing how the amount of maintenance compares to other competitors (both elite and super amateur). BTW, every day is Pyndon day - even here in Sweden! ![]() GO! =) |

Great call. As a fan, Pyn's Dakar seems quite a bit different for me than Ned's. Last year I fretted a lot that Ned's bike might fail. That he had to ride it too hard and parts might fail. Pyn's race seems more relaxed to me. Like he's steadily gaining his form and rhythm. That he's got plenty of motor under him to do the job.
I don't really have a question, but if possible I'd like to hear a few comments from Dad. What's the Dakar like for him? ![]() Thanks again

Nate,
For his rest day questions: Motor swap? Tire usage? Is this meeting expectations? Ankle? Mutt parked it yet? Compared to Baja? Terrain, difficulty, speeds. Gear he'd want different? His modified tuning of the motor (pipe, etc) from the factory. How's it working? Roadbook tricks he's learned in the biv? The list could go on and on and on...

Good catch. Biggest question, though I suspect we've heard the answer in his voice already.
