Yes, but the KTM RR does use a fuel pump, it just operates at super low pressure.

It's a diaphragm type Mikuni pump that has been around since before the beginning of time, all it has to do is shove the last couple gallons of gas uphill to reside in the carb bowl.

No worries about precise (and high) fuel pressures, clogging filters and injectors, etc. It passes the luddite test.

@Ant_Ware Cool! You should write a ride report, Ant. I can almost, uh, hear the radio playing... :)
So AntWare is at the Dakar with Pyn?

Yes, thanks for the good pics.

BMW/ Husky has essentially never raced a stock frame in any discipline, to my knowledge. When Knighter was in WEC, they had non-concentric swingarm pivots, different shock locations, all kinds of trickery... and that's continued to present day on the Speedbrain bikes.

Pretty striking how different the rear shock angle is there, huh?

I just had a quick look and it seems that it is either low quality fuel or badly worn commutators which result in the motor being overheated and then either the pump goes kaboom or because the pump draws more amps now for the same pressure the connectors go banG. If the pumps are installed inside the tanks they are cooled by the fuel and as you are running low they tend to overheat. There are also one way relief valves so if the pressure is exceeded the fuel returns back in the tank which may clog due to dirty fuel... It is an electronic device and as such I believe things can go wrong but I would imagine that these are changed every couple of days in a situation like this ... Well, if they weren't, they will be from now on

Everyone who started around Svitko is in (apart from Matt Fish who carried Barreda's water). Dammit, boy. Hope he's OK.

Nope, he's sitting at home like the rest of us. Ant Ware is the source of the music both Pyn and I play on the liaison, though, he did such an awesome job of DJing together some play lists that I've promised never to bump And the Radio played again.

Maybe they do like BMW and make the wires to short in the tank, so after a lot of thrashing the wire breaks LOL
