It's a bit ironic to me they haven't yet I have to carry a spare fuel pump under the seat of my SE for when it fails.

thats what i meant.

Because the KTM 450rally's are not EFI, they dont have the high pressure FI pumps unlike other FI bikes (Husky/Honda) in the Dakar.

I know it was several pages ago now but thanks for upholding my reputation, I knew that Patsy wasn't at the Dakar this year but I wasn't aware Charles was supporting Paul on the old Nissan Troll

We had a similar system (for public viewing) in Serres, and that was "broadcast" with a 15 minute delay, to avoid anyone whipping out their phone and calling their mate if lost on the course... I'm pretty sure you can adjust the position relay delay by even more if one so wishes

I heard about some of the car teams in the Tuareg having an enormous amount of data at their disposal, who don't care about the rules at all. This would be a deal maker/breaker in the hands of the factory car teams.

KA-CHING...!!!

May be they put all the R&D into the racing pumps and at the end they run out of resources for the SE pump ?

The problem with injection pumps is that if they fail to achieve the pressure required, the bike does not run. Even in the normal electric pumps (Africa etc) the bike would run but not at full speed. At least you would get to the destination...
I bet they will solve the problem during the night so it does not happen again or if it happens at least you give the rider the chance to fix it ...
