I have the hardware to drill into the truck floor. I'll probably just end up doing that. I was concerned that the plywood would bow up when I tightened the straps down, eventually crack, and then I'd hear a nice boom in the back of the truck as I pull out of McDonald's.

I'm doing this next month. Post some pics and let us know how things worked out (or didn't) please.

I'm hoping to learn from your experiences!

Is that so bad? You were ok with transporting it laying down anyway.

You could beef up the ply wood with some 2x4s or 2x6s.

Laying it on its side may crack the crashbars. All those bumps and vibrations will be absorbed by the crashbar and transferred to the mounting points.

Picture from the web.

I ended up mounting it to the floor of the truck. I bought 3/8 x5 eye bolts and mounted two bolts and washers to each bolt. I have a washer and bolt on the bottom and a washer and bolt on the top. I was able to do it with no issues. For a wheel chock I screwed a 4x4 to the floor. I strapped it down and loaded shit all around it, I forgot to take pics. I'll do it on the other end. It's surrounded with crap now.

when your finished find a stick and drive it into each hole then cut it off with a sharp razor you will never know you had any holes in the floor

So did you drill holes all the way through the floor? What did you do to plug the holes when you returned the truck?

Did you remember to take some pictures afterwards? I'd love to see them. I have to ship my bike (and other junk) next week.
